    a Few Glaring Flaws

Before i start i just want to say that i am now enjoying the game for the most part. I have changed my mind at least 5 times. I am using using hitting sliders set at 65/30/100 for each team. A lot of hits and runs for the most part. I usually get one fielding mistake per game but I minimized by setting fielding to "locked". I then try and stand in front of the yellow circle. The error will still happen and there is really nothing you can do. But I found that if I also change OFs to pick the closet one to the ball I reduce teh slow down affect. If a ball is hit in the alley the system will often choose the wrong OF for me. I just change and push R as hard as I can to the ball.

In addition, I have found that most of these blunders happen when you team is getting rattled. So, if my pitcher gives up a few runs then I can be sure my OF will make a stupid play or SS will boot a routine grounder. To protect myself I just save the game in the middle of an inning. It takes a minute. Then if my OF let's one go over his head I just reload.

If these can be fixed with a new patch this would be a very good game.

    1. stealing - nearly impossible for human - this can be fixed by reducing the cannon arm cpu players
    2. OF slow down/ball over head issue - probably cannot be fixed in this release.
    3. Injuries - cut down on human pitching injuries - can be fixed with a patch.
    4. Franchise - cannot see stamina w/o starting a game? They have the stupid STAT column in the lineups screen. This is useless. They need to delete this and add Stamina. Probably cannot be fixed with patch.
    5. Cannot change pitchers when starting a game? This could be fixed with a patch.

If the items above could be fixed I could have a fun game for this year w/o having to buy a PS3. 2k needs to step to the plate and get another patch released.

I agree with #1 for sure. They need to add more sliders for fielding. At least have a throw strengh slider, because it's also impossible for the HUM to get infield singles. The CPU always makes diving stops and ALWAYS manages to throw my guys out.

They even manage to go into hyper speed when they dive for a grounder behind 2nd base and then by the grace of God will contort and move into position so fast to throw you out! Gimme a break 2k, lame!

What you described has been a major issue with the game since 2K5, and which is why the game engine needs to be be scrapped.

wouldn't simple cpu throw speed and dive sliders solve this?

No, it has to do with the game coding itself. The hyper-fast fielding and the OF slowdown you see when fielders are running is all tied in with the game coding and animation engine. They had throwing sliders in the past four versions of the game and it made no difference.

I can still live with this problem. at least every fly ball now adds a high degree of uncertainty.

I just wish the stealing could be fixed. has anyone tried lowing all cpu catchers arm strength?

So outfielders suddenly going into weird, goofy, unrealistic slow-mo animations is fine because... it makes the fielding more difficult? Wow, you certainly are easily satisfied. The world just needs a million more gamers like you and 2K will have a hugely successful hit game on their hands.

                  1. dano has a good idea. Lower catcher throwing ratings.
                  2. You can fix this by pushing LT when making a catch
                  3. You're right, they needed an injury slider like 2k8
                  4. You can change the lineup in that screen where you see the stamina.
                  5. You can change pitchers in exhibition (play now) by changing the pitching rotation of the CPU in the roster screen.

                    Re: a Few Glaring Flaws

I would say the injuries is the most frustrating to me, because injuries can be fun to throw you a curveball from time to time, but they just mount up far to easily in this game. I would hope for some form of slider in the future for this.

Stealing has been a huge pain, but I think I found a solution, though it only has been tested for one game so far...I like to unlock cards, so I keep everything within perameters of pro or higher, but I noticed on legend level, that the pickoff success and...I think it is catcher throw accuracy??? are lower than that on the pro and all-star level. I changed to the lower numbers and was able to steal 4 bases in the game (different players). Granted a lot of this is because the second baseman gets taken off the bag, and granted it affects my ability to throw them out also, but if this is the trade I need to make to start racking up some steals, then I am fine with it. I recommend giving it a shot and setting these to legend level to see if it helps out.

As for fielding, I always get a sense of when the fielder looks frozen in the outfield and will miss the catch. I make it a point to jiggle the stick around a bit to "wake him up" and normally this seems to fix the issues. Some players just are horrible though, and gary sheffield will never see right field again as long as I am the manager!

Consoles are to blame for lower standards.

I lowered mine and the opponents catcher throwing rating by 10 and it looks promising. Played NYM vs STL (me) Reyes stole 3 bases on me in the game, I threw out Wright and Castillo. Greene stole one for me. Schumaker got thrown out. Try it out!

Is there a secret to throw the cpu out? usually by the time my catcher throws it the runner is already safe. I know i need to keep them on but my throw timing is off. i am trying to preload my throw but nothing happens.

Depends on your catcher. I had no problem throwing out runners with Molina before the edits.
