whats the deal with pitches sometimes?

I hate when you max out the pitching cursor, and yet a fastball you mean to throw flies way to the right of where you want it to go.. or flys back into the zone for a hittable pitch.

This is incredibly annoying if you have "maxed" the cursor. I could understand if it wasnt filled all the way, but come on.. its very annoying.

If you are using the three step version of pitching, you still have to nail the landing...in other words, maxing out is only half of pitching, you still have to nail the gesture on the second motion of the pitch to nail your spot....Maxing out is only the speed or effort of the pitch, the second motion takes care of the location.

what? the 2nd motion is what stops the circle, when i do the 2nd motion i max out and then there goes my pitch.

its incredibly random - the game doesnt always do this, it goes through random periods of it.

yeah, im pretty sure what youre talking about isnt it at all. its only with my fastball and changeup, with all pitchers regardless. the pitches simply move way to the left or the right of where theyre supposed to go, dramatically so.

is it because im starting from a saved in progress game?

Yeah...here's what happens. The gesture for a fastball is down and then up on the r stick. You are correct that the second gesture (r stick up) determines the meter/power/strength of a pitch but if you don't press the r stick directly up, your fastball will not be located where you want it.

I figured this out sometime back when my fastball gesture was down (6 o'clock position) and then up (1 o'clock position). My fastball was not located correctly so I had to make sure it was down (6 o'clock position) and then up (12 o'clock position).

Don't know if that helps any.

its weird, it seems that it only happens in phases, but i have noticed i occasionally do what you are mentioning. ill try it out.

yeah i think what you are describing is the gesture. if you are off on the proper stick movement, your pitch will sail. the hard part this year is that there is no gesture feedback to let you know what motion you did wrong.

I've been running into quirky pitching problems as of late, as well. I'll try to throw a fastball, but a curveball gets thrown instead. And i'm talking when i'm REALLY trying to throw a fastball; really concentrating on the 6 to 12 motion. Don't know what the heck that's all about.

yep, its all about the gesture. I feel that curveballs, sliders, changeups, etc are a bit more forgiving, but I sometimes find myself looking down at the controller to make sure that I am pushing straight down. I think sometimes it has to do with if my body is shifted slightly or I am holding the controller off to the side a bit, therefor not pulling it straight down and pushing straight up.

i might turn the gesture slider down a bit then.
