    So what's the verdict?

I sold my MLB 2K9 awhile ago. I see they have had two patches since. So what's the final verdict on the game now after the patches?

Was the aggression ever fixed? Does the CPU take pitches?

How much different/better/worse is the game after two patches?

My final verdict is......I have really mixed feelings about this game.
I have been playing this game nonstop since it came out, I have played 112 games in my Reds franchise (this was after restarting my franchise after 50 games when the patches came out). With that being said I am now struggling to finish my season, I was playing 2 or 3 games a night and now I almost have to make myself play a game a night. I have become really bored with this game, granted I have played about 200 games so far.

To answer your questions, Yes the cpu takes pitches now! Matter of fact sometimes it seems like they take too many looking 3rd strikes.
The game is alot better after downloading the 2 patches.
If you are a hardcore bball fan and cant play the show (360 only users) I would highly recommend this game. With that being said if you are not a hardcore bball fan you will probably get tired of this game pretty quickly.
Again it is light years ahead of last years game but still needs alot of work IMO. I will play the last 50 games of my season with the Reds but I am not having fun like I was a month ago playing this game, the replay value for me is running out.

I have a PS3, but I really wanna give this game a go. Defense actually seems challenging unlike the show and the lighting is so much better. The Show also still seems too predictable with the hits.

I have a ps3 as well and got 2k9 for $15 on ebay. The game isn't as good as the 360 version. The fielding, pitching, and hitting are pretty fun, but as someone mentioned, the replay value is poor. Franchise is very dull. Sure they have player ambitions, full minors, and an mlb.com interface, but it just isn't enough. There are no goals (like 2k7 and 2k8), no 40-man, arbitration, waivers, etc. Franchise is just really boring.

Yes, the show seems scripted but it is still a pretty decent game (minus the horrible glitches). The replay value is very high, especially for franchise guys because you have to deal with your roster in every way imaginable, sell add space, purchase vendors, etc. Stick with the show man. I put 2k9 back on ebay after I had seen Mike Napoli turn black after I sent him down to the minors and not being able to edit him.

Id give this game a 2/10. In the end its better then 2k8 but they failed to fix any pf the major issues combined with an incredibly poor offseason other then fixing draft pros. rating. As a long time 2k supporter they fuked this 1 up.

Id get my LF impressions of the game but hes still watching the ball go over his shoulder.

I think it depends on what you're looking for in the game.

If you are one of those people that get irritated by the bugs, then the game isn't for you at all. The fielding in particular is the one thing that I can't really overlook. The game obviously is full of little things that are annoying, but most of them are things that you can overlook.

On the other hand, the game is actually really fun to play IMO. The last baseball games I've owned are MVP 05 and MLB 2k7 (which I played for like a week and that's it), and I think how you play this game is much more fun than either of those. Now I enjoyed MVP 05 a lot more, but with the cursor hitting and total control pitching the game is really unique and can keep me playing for a while.

As far as being aggresive, no it isn't really a problem. I usually strike out at least 4 batters every game, and have gotten up to 12 or 13 in a game. The pitch counts are always going to be low though due to the lack of foul balls.

              Re: So what's the verdict?

I rented this game and hated it so I picked up a copy of 2k8 for 15 and never looked back. Spent a couple hours updating rosters by hand due to no transfer cable (360) and have been enjoying it immensely. You can steal bases in this version! I have been using PBAGiants sliders since last summer when I rented it and they produce a game I can enjoy.

If you've played The Show 09 then you will probably not like 2K9. I rented 2K9 and played it for like 5 min.
