MLB 2K9 Worth it for 360?

I haven't had a MLB game since World Series II on Sega Saturn. Yes, that was a while ago.

Should I get MLB 2K9 used? Have the significant problems been fixed with the patch i.e. players disappearing in the ground, fielders unable to pick up the ball near the fence, Career mode crashes, etc?

    Thanks,

I was in Target today and they had it for $39.99. I'm thinking about getting it. I rented it for a few weeks back when it came out, and in spite of the flaws, I couldn't quit playing it.

If you haven't owned a baseball game since the Sega Saturn and you do not own a PS3, then I would suggest a pick-up. As has always been the case with this game, if you want to pick it apart to pieces you can (and some pocks you'll come across whether you're looking for them or not) but overall it's a fun game to play.

Whether this means I have low standards or what I don't know, but this years' title was the first baseball game for which I played every one of my postseason games and I had an absolute blast in doing so. There was no World Series logos, no really special post-season treatment yet I still found myself having a ton of fun, go figure.

The game looks jumpy or glitchy if you let it play out through all the cutscenes each game, but I have skipped over all those scenes since the first day I made my purchase (speeds the games up). Most problems are what I might refer to as "clean-up" glitches, where it seems the creators could have just used another year to clean things up. This would include batters walking through parts of batboys on their way back to the dugout, computer outfielders struggling to make any leaping catches at the wall, a runner falling out of the basepath if you press Left Trigger and Right Trigger rapidly during a pickle, etc.

The game, for all of its shortcomings, can be made to sound like an unmitigated disaster but I have felt that at its core, it plays a pleasing style of baseball and I find it underrated at this point. If there was a MLB: The Show for 360 it'd be a different story but as it stands MLB 2K9 is a solid choice.

i just picked this game up while we were on vacation...i'm getting the itch to play baseball again on the 360. while this game isn't perfect, i've told myself that i'll just learn to live with the flaws and try to enjoy myself.

if u want a game that is fun and is somewhat realistic for the 360, get...

            THE BIGS!!!!!

it's fun and the game is overall way way way more fun and much less glitches than 2K, 2K just makes me angry and The Bigs is plain cartoonish, but an overall better game than 2K
