Hey guys, I just picked this game up a few days ago and thought that I would give my thoughts and possibly get some feedback. First and foremost, I also own The Show, this game does not even come close to The Show in terms of detail, and depth. However, those things, at times can bog a great game down. That being said, this game is NOT as bad as everyone makes it out to be. There is much room for improvement, but I have not had this much fun playing a baseball game in a while. I have only played 15-20 games, so I am sure that there are some bugs that I have not seen yet, but overall this game may be the one I play the most. The first thing that I need to mention is that the default sliders are way to easy, even on the hardest mode, the CPU pitchers and batters are way to aggressive. In fact, I think that the pitchers are way more aggressive than the batters. They throw too many 1st pitch strikes, and it is easy to get hits. The first 5 games that I played (on the hardest level) both the cpu and myself averaged 20+ hits a game, barely no walks, and several home runs per game. At this point I was starting to become a little frustrated. However, I went online and downloaded a set of user created sliders (I don't know the name right off hand). These sliders changed the game completely. Both, of these issues were curtailed due to these sliders. The CPU pitching started acting normally, and the hitters were less aggressive. The hit parade slowed to a normal 5-10 hits per side per game. I drew several walks, and even threw several myself. To me this is even more diverse than The Shows pitching. When playing the show, I know exactly what pitch to throw, and where. Unfortunatley, this is where the Show, for me, lacks. It is too easy to get guys out when pitching (with the pitch meter on and off). With this game, if you are off just a bit on your motion, you miss your spot. Also, this game has more unpredictable feilding, which is great. In the 20 or so games I have played, I have not yet experienced the outfielder missing the ball issue, and I have pulled the 1st baseman off of the bag, but I was rushing the throw. I have seen 5 errors in these games, split between the cpu and me, while on the show you would be lucky to see 1 error in 20 games. Also, with 2k9 there are times that I am not sure that my feilder will make it to a pop fly, in the show it seems that i never miss a pop fly (unless in a gap of course!)
So, overall this game is not as polished as the show, but with the right set of sliders, it is a good game. I will continue to play both, and advance through my seasons on both. It may be that this game is fairly new to me and the show has become slightly repetative, but it is nice to have a decent allternative.
