Disabled List / Player Call Up

    Ok - Here's the sitaution:

Playing in my Braves franchise. Jeff Bennet goes down with a strain for 13 Days. I choose to place him on the 15 day disabled list. It prompts me saying he doesnt count towards my 25 man active roster.

How do I call up a player from Triple A to replace Bennet? When I select him in the roster it says I can't send him down to swap him with a player from AAA because he's injured. I also haven't been to figure out how to call someone up from AAA without swapping someone from the MLB team.

Is this a known issue or am I just missing something really obvious? I'm having to play short a player because Bennet is on the DL but I can't figure out how to call up a player to replace him. I had another player go down and was smart enough to leave him on the Roster and swap him with a player from AAA (and then from there I could put him on the DL for the AAA team).

If I turn on the CPU auto manage roster thing will the CPU call someone up for me? Even if they dont call up who I want I can always use that player to swap out with who I actually want to call up.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You're very welcome sir, I appreciate the feedback on the sliders.

I think the solution might've just come to me. I have all the auto management minor league features on. This makes it so I cannot access the GM functions for the minor leagues (or so I think). This might explain why I can't figure out how to call a AAA player up. Currently my only option is to select who I want to send down from the MLB level and then swap him with a AAA guy. I'm not able to get to the screen where I can select a AAA guy and move him up/swap him with a MLB guy. Make sense?

When I get home (I'm at work atm :wink I will see if turning off auto management for the minor leagues fixes this. I'll also keep in mind the info about players not coming off the disabled list as well as the day to day players who stay injured.

So I don't have to sit and wonder for the next 4 hours...does anyone know if having auto management for the minor leagues enabled makes it so you cannot access functions in the minor leagues such as calling players up?

      Thanks.

Wait, have you tried the following:

Go to your MLB roster, then click the right stick in. That switches to your different AAA, AA, and A levels. From there, you can select whoever you want and click "send them to MLB".

Since your injured player is not one of the active 25, you should be able to simply send your player of choosing from AAA to the MLB.

However, if youre saying this isnt possible because the game is prompting you to swap someone, then maybe the CPU got a replacement for you. I'm really not sure. Ive never run into this problem.

Haha, I didn't realize that's how you switch between the different levels (A, AA, AAA, MLB) on the roster screen, by clicking the right stick in. That's been my problem this whole time.

Thanks though, that should solve it!

that's funny...i was thinking about this today, but i didn't want to insult your intelligence. i guess we always start with the simplest thing and go from there.

i haven't started a franchise yet because i'm one of these anal freaks that needs to get the sliders right before beginning (otherwise i get PO'd and start over again...and again...and again - until i lose interest). then i ask myself why in the world i gave up hours of my life to update rosters i never use...

Haha! I blame it on the crappy instruction manual! The answers aren't going to hurt my feelings if I ask dumb questions. I'll just be happy to solve the issue at hand.

I was the same way regarding franchises and decided to just play this year and see how it shaped up. I've basically been using a modified version of BFJ's sliders for a while, then I used JHB3's, then back to BFJ's, then I made my thread (which the sliders are pretty damn close to JHB3's). Honestly the results haven't been that much different. I get a decent enough variety, stats are realistic enough and the experience is enjoyable. I'd say once you get the rosters to your liking to just dive in and don't look back.

Baseball is a funny game anyways - extremely unpredictable. Trying too hard to make your stats mimic RL stats will just frustrate you to no end so instead of worrying about it, just play!

blazzen - i played an amazing game today (my sliders are very similar to the ones you posted in your column)...

i was the rays and beat the indians (on the road) 11-10. i was losing 6-0...scored 3 in the 4th and then took the lead in the 5th, 8-6. eventually went up 10-6...indians tied it in the bottom of the 8th at 10...i got a solo HR from Longoria in the top of 9th.

indians got 2 on the bottom of the 9th - no outs...i struck out the next batter...got a pop up for the second out. but the next guy launched a shot to left field...crawford fired a strike to the plate and i got the 3rd out by nailing the guy at home - my oldest son jumped up in the air - amazing game. wheeler got into trouble, but got the save.

like you said, it's an unpredictable game...

Yup I figured it out. Thanks, was able to call up a guy to take Bennet's spot. Guess when Bennett is ready to come off the DL I'll have to sim a game.
