    Does stat tracking work properly?

Several reviews have referred to the stat tracking as broken, but only one mentioned something specific. I haven't seen any mention of it on these forums, though. Anyone have anything to say? It's one of the major things that has prevented me from trying the game.

As a sidenote, I've always been surprised by the apparent lack of franchise desire from people that inhabit these boards. A lot of you guys are total sports games freaks. How can you not care about career stats? =P

It is what it is. I mean I could spend hours complaing about how on a double steal if one player is caught the other doesn't get credit for their steal -or- get's recorded as being caught too...but why do that and fill up the board w/ complaints on stat tracking?

I can deal with scoring errors. But the one specific thing I read said they hit five homeruns with Alex Rodriguez but he was listed as having three. Wonks like that would make the game worthless to me, thus the presented question.

Re: Does stat tracking work properly?

Haven't played multiple seasons yet, but I've noticed that career stats for players from 2008 and back are tracked pretty well on their info page. However, during games it always lists some bogus stat for a play such as them being the "216" MVP or ROTY, a made-up hitting streak or the wrong number for their current streak, or some silly stat about them being ranked x in the NL/AL despite that stat being clearly incorrect. Also, during the "hit track" or whatever it's called features during the games if a guy just got his second hit, for example, and is now 2-for-4 in the game, the announcers announce him as getting his third hit.

Doesn't exactly break the game for me, but little things like that tend to bug me. Alas, with just a 360 and no PS3, I have to make due with 2K instead of The Show this year. :|

I've only noticed two things in regards to stats, but haven't really looked into them so I can't tell you too much about them.

          1) I'm almost positive the game doesn't give credit for a save for the 3-inning save.

          2) The ERA shown in the game preview on the schedule screen is sometimes different from the ERA shown at the beginning of the game when it gives the pitchers stats. Not sure which is right, but it's different.

On a double steal, If one runner gets thrown out the other is NOT supposed to get credit for a steal.

Re: Does stat tracking work properly?

Only actual stat Ive seen tracked wrong is Saves. It seems the game doesnt really understand what a save situation is completely.

In game youll see things like "MVP in 216" which doesnt make sense, as well as "Is on a 8 game hitting streak" when they havent gotten a hit their past 3 games, or a hitter will come up the plate and it will say "19th in saves last season." These dont bother me really.

Oh also, if you make an error in an inning, and lets say 4 or 5 runs score, you get charged an error everytime a run scores. This leads to some rather interesting error counts (I had 6 errors in a game once.)
