Re: Close game of WSB2K3 last night..

I have been getting great results, using timed hitting, with the following sliders:

    CPU Pitching - 100
    CPU Throws Strikes - 5

    CPU Hitting - 50
CPU Swings at Strikes - 70
CPU Swings at Balls - 70

    Pitch Speed - Very Fast

    Pitch Variability - Off

Having pitching variability off is the key to these sliders working. When variability is on (high, medium or low), both you and the CPU pitcher will throw several random meat pitches per game - which leads to way too many hits. The great thing about leaving variability off is that - while you can control your pitches, you and the computer won't throw ridiculous pitches right down the middle of the plate (which you can crush using timed hitting). And - with the CPU batting stats cranked up, it becomes a game of having to throw a decent mix of ballas and strikes - while avoiding hot and medium zones that the computer can crush (especially when you are fatigued). And - with the CPU pitching set at 100, he throws everything at the corners - which is very challenging to lay off and to swing through.

With these sliders, I am 32-30 with the Pirates. Giles is hitting .340 with 13 HRs. I threw a complete game 5-0 shutout against the Braves, and then came back and won 8-7 the next game. Most of my games have had 5-8 runs scored between the two teams (i.e. lots of 3-2, 4-3 games), which is very tense and challenging.
