CPU always makes contact with fastballs?

I just got this game in the mail from Gamefly, and in the games I've played so far I've noticed that the CPU seems to always make contact with fastballs, regardless of where they're thrown. If they're anywhere near the zone (not even specifically in the strike zone) they make contact seemingly 8 or 9 times out of every 10 I throw them. I only got 5 swing and misses on fastballs all game last game pitching as Joba Chamberlain. Using CC Sabathia I think I had only 2 or 3 misses on fastballs. On the other hand, they couldn't touch Chamberlain's slider, whether it was down the middle our elsewhere.

I searched the forums but didn't see anything about this. Is this common, or is there something wierd going on? An additional point of info is that they never seem to be that fast, whether I hit the max on the circle expansion or not, and perfect on the accuracy ring. Sabathia's fastball was sitting at 89-91. Any insights would be appreciated.

The CPU swinging at and hitting everything in the strikezone is a known issue. Some say the patch helped with this, others said it didn't. And I recall several posts where people were complaining about certain pitchers' fastballs not being fast enough, including CC. But pitchers' ratings can't be edited this year.

I haven't had this problem. If you mix your pitches and speeds, they will miss fastballs a lot if you locate them right. Same goes for any pitches really, but if you throw the same pitch 2 or 3 times in a row you better believe they are going to make contact the second or third time around.

Haven't seen this. I've seen them swing at too many FB (as baa mentioned, that's a common problem) but I've had no issues getting them by people. I've never pitched with C.C., so I'm not sure about him, but others who should be fast, have been.

The clocked speed has been fine, but I personally think the pitches still have that "floating" sensation to them...regardless of the slider for it. I fired this up and played a quick game with my brother-in-law the other day. It's frustrating. I want to like this game, but it's just too goofed for me. I'm hoping the actually take another step forward with 2K10...should be interesting.
