One way 2k can increase sales is by selling MLB2k10 for $29.99

If they make a decent game for 2k10, and charge people $29.99 for it, it can be successful. The trick is that the game has to be good or atleast very decent. They can go the route of nfl2k5, which sold for $19.99 when it came out. Obviously NFL 2k5 was a good game and MLB 2k does not have the rep for being a good baseball game, but it's a start IMO.
NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.

Absolutely no way they sell it for that low under any circumstances. $49.99 will get people to buy since it will be $10 cheaper than the show. Or they can get creative and sell it for $59.99 but add an incentive to the purchase to get people to buy again (perhaps a free baseball gameday ticket?). Bottom line is that people have been fed up with the series for years and charging $59.99 for the sake of it won't cut it this year imo.

They did this for nhl 2k10. I think it would work if they sold it for $49.99 or less. I would probably end up buying it at that price.

$49.99 would not get me to buy. $19.99, maybe.

Re: One way 2k can increase sales is by selling MLB2k10 for $29.99

I still remember the day they announced that ESPN NFL 2K5 was going to be $19.99. All day I was thinking that it was a typo. Despite every article and announcement out there, I had to see it for myself to believe it when I finally arrived at the EB Games and saw the price tag. I threw down a Jackson and I owned the best sports video game to date. I still can't believe what a steal that game was! And I was so glad the other 2K games followed suit, especially with the Coke cap promotion they had along with it.

If this game is $39.99, I may give it a much better chance for purchase. But I want to do my best to not buy two baseball games in a season if I don't have to... unless there's an arcade release later on down the road that sways me or a Power Pros PS3 release surprises us.

But I think at this point, they can't sell this game again for $59.99. I don't know if they've yet ran the algorithms on where they'd best benefit overall, but I think they're best off at $39.99. Even if it comes to the point where this year they are left off around as poorly as they did last year profit-wise, at least that means they sold 50% more games from last year, and if it is a much better game then they will have garnered a much more interested audience. At this point, this can maybe let them go up to $49.99 the next year, then back up again to $59.99 the next year if they've really taken off with the quality of the game. It is a long-term process, but at this time it's their own fault for shooting themselves in the foot three out of the last four years with very below average current-gen titles.

At $39.99, they'll attract people no matter how bad the game is. But let's just hope that its value at least matches that of The Show at $59.99.

Same, 49 is still way to high. I'd get it for 29.99. I'd also still buy the show though.

You're right. I would say $39.99-$44.99 is a good starting point. It will defitnetly yield more sales, and If the game is actually good it can be very beneficial to them. 2k has left a bitter taste in peoples mouths with all the next gen baseballs(2k7 was decent). It would be crazy for 2k to sell 2k10 for $59.99 at this point.

First make a quality product and charge 59.99.

Yeah, but this game has a bad rep already. One way to start is lowering the price to entice people to buy the game, and ofcourse make it a good game as well..

If they don't sell 2k10 at a lower price Best Buy will have a deal.

                          From:
VGChartz - extensive game chart coverage, including sales data, news, reviews, forums, & game database for PS5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch & PC

Units sold on the 360 through the first 39 weeks and 10 weeks:

                          2K7 - 640K through 39 weeks and 409K in the first 10 weeks
                          2K8 - 587K through 39 weeks (down 8%) and 374K in the first 10 weeks (down 9%)
                          2K9 - 568K through 39 weeks (down 3%) and 349K in the first 10 weeks (down 7%)

This graph shows were they all were through 39 weeks, which is where 2K9 is at right now. This would be the best apples to apples comparrison.

They've had declining sales two years in a row and you can blame it on the economy, but the other game has shown growth:

Instead of lowering the price across the board, maybe they could try and do something else and offer a discount to those that also purchased 2K8 or 2K9 or both...or something.

You'll definitely be able to buy it for 29.99. Just wait 7-10 days after it comes out and then go on Ebay. Somebody will be pissed off.

Actually, if they want to sell more units, include full seasons a la the mvp mods classic rosters. Maybe start off with a few full alternate seasons from the past and then keep building on that each release.

Regardless, the gameplay will have to be solid.

You know what all this talk about dropping the price will get you? A $59.99 game.

I could see them taking ten dollars off like they did with the NHL, but you have to realize that they are still paying a pretty penny to get MLB players and teams in this game, and it's a loss they have to make up somewhere. There is no way, even with the current state of the game, that they will dip as low as many of you are hoping.

In any case, the game this year while rough is a good stepping stone. They need to iron it out and put some more needed modes in, and it will be worth the price tag.
