    Am I the only one who wants some info on cursor and button hitting?

    I know many of you like the swing stick, but some of us hate it. I'm an old-school gamer (like many of you) and I prefer cursor-based hitting as I feel it brings an added sense of realism to the whole pitcher-batter confrontation. I also want to know about the button-based hitting as well because MVP '05 was the last game I used it in and it was great in that particular game.

    That plus I really dislike timing-only hitting with the swing stick and I think the swing stick is clunky, uncomfortable, and unnatural when mimicking a batting swing.

    Anyone else with me on this?

    I'm with you on that. I have no real issue with the swing stick, but MUCH prefer the cursor hitting. I doubt we'll hear or see much though as it's really not what 2K/VC is promoting.

    I'm sure it will be about the same as last year, which should be fine-I thought the cursor hitting physics was one of the bright spots for the game.

      I loved the cursor hitting last year. It really captures the hand-eye coordination aspect of the game, which made for some tense at bats where I was definitely grinding the controller. Pitch speed at 65 I think was optimal for this. Problem was, breaking balls didn't truly distinguish themselves;

      I think you should try using the swing stick, too. Whereas the cursor embodies the visual- coordination aspect of hitting, the swing stick simulates the physical part.

      I think in Chase's Q&A, he remarked that he didn't think the cursor itself changed. It would be nice to have something generally sleeker, with added bonus if it was customized/tailored to individual hitters (Pujols' having fatter head of the bat).

        I didn't play 2K9 other than the demo, but with 2K8 I tried the swing stick for a while but ultimately went back to the old style. Maybe its because I have been pushing a button to swing for 25 years instead of using a joystick movement, but I never got the timing down. I will probably try it again this year, but the classic controls just seem more natural to me.

          I'm all about the buttons, too. I don't hate the new style; I just prefer it the old way.

            I'm all about the cursor hitting, as well. In fact, used Padgoi's sliders last year and will probably do the same this year, if i get the game.

            I guess I don't hate the stick, but being able to make contact with the ball by just timing alone doesn't do it for me. If I try and pull an outside fastball, I shouldn't be able to make good contact, or any contact at all for that matter. Most likely should be a swing and a miss or a dribbler to the left side (RH batter).

            The cursor physics were great. I didn't mind the cursor shape or size last year, as others did. I guess I got used to it. I DID have to combine the cursor with buttons though. I could not move the cursor with one thumb and use the swing stick with the other thumb -- just not coordinated enough, i guess!!

            I'm taking the lack of information on this years cursor hitting to mean that it will be the exact same as last year, which is fine with me. (As long as you can still use the buttons along with it)
