    Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

What difficulty do you guys play on? Cause I'm like 8 or 9-0 playing on Pro difficulty with default everything.

I started with the Yankees and completely slaughtered their franchise. I traded every player on the MLB Yankees except for Phil Hughes, and I got young guys to replace them. I think I have 2 25-year-olds on the team and the rest are 24 or younger, so they're all of rookie contracts, with the highest contract being David Price at 800k a season. So I made the $200M+ payroll to a bit under $10M.

I have a few questions about progression and the draft though, so can someone check out the thread I made?

I am 2-2 with the Tigers. I have only hit 3 doubles.
      Gaming hard since 1988

I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.

Also, to add to my above question, how do you hit extra base hits and homeruns? Singles are easy, but I find the power hitting MUCH too hard.

Here's my sliders. Also to answer your question about extra base hits, that is fixed by lowering the fielder speed for both the human and AI.

Grrrrrrr...............I win Game 1 of my three game series against the Angels 5-3, only for my game to freeze on me right after the last out was recorded.

                Guys guys guys.

I am sticking with the Rockies

                No, for real this time.

I am about midway through May, just finished up a series @ LAD.

First Game: Dodgers 7, Rockies 0

I played this game to try and help out Jason Hammel, who was 1-3 with an ERA of 5.74 when the game started. I cruised through the first 4 innings, but in the 5th let up 4 runs, and would eventually give up another 2 in the 6th and one in the 7th. Ronald Belisario pitched against me and held me in check big time - I did manage to scratch across 6 hits, but never had a good rally going. Tough game.

                2nd Game: Rockies 9, Dodgers 4

Simmed this game, Jeff Francis pitched well, 6 1/3 innings, 2 runs, 5 hits, 2 walks and 6 strikeouts. Bullpen surrendered the other 2. I got major help from Ian Stewart and Chris Ianneta in this game - both continue to be huge run manufacturers.

                3rd Game: Dodgers 4, Rockies 2

Final game of the series was a showdown between Ubaldo Jimenez and Clayton Kershaw - and it was a dandy. Both pitchers matched zeroes through the first 4, before Ubaldo coughed up 2 in the 5th and 2 in the 6th by surrendering a couple of key base hits, along with a HR from Manny Ramirez. Rockies only runs came on solo shots from Clint Barmes and Chris Ianneta.

Anyway, like I said, halfway through May at this point. I am currently 20-9 and lead the West by 4 games over the Giants. I play a series at home vs. the Phillies next. Should be a good one.

                  Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

                  Wow....

I just finished a game in my Cardinals franchise, where I was playing the 2 - 8 Mets (I was 7 - 3, and won the first game of the series). I ended up losing. I scored 5 runs on Santana in the second inning to go up 5 - 0.

Santana was taken out, and to make it a little challenging for myself, I decided to takeover the Mets to get the game closer. And by the 9th inning, I (still playing as the Mets) was up 6 - 5. The inning earlier while I was pitching as the Mets, Matt Holiday had gotten a single with one out, and the computer decided to bring in this speedster i had called up from triple A. The computer ended up grounding into a double play the next at bat anyway.

So now, I decide to switch back to the Cardinals to begin the top of the ninth (I was at home) and ended up giving up three straight hits with two outs, and allowing the Mets to go up 7 - 5. I finally got out of the inning, and began a rally. I pinch hit Julio Lugo for the pitcher, after Tyler Greene had grounded out for the first out, and he got on base, I put the hit and run on with skip schumaker which worked out perfectly, with skip schumaker singling, and lugo getting to third with no outs. Brendan Ryan singled, and lugo scored. Albert Pujols was up next, and I thought I had won (He has 6 HRs and 14 RBIs to lead the league in hitting). And of course, the computer walked him, bringing up who I thought would be an equally dangerous Matt Holliday (3HRs and 6 RBIs, including one already), but forgot that the computer had taken him out!!!

So then I was stuck with this 68 overall guy, with a 53 in contact, and 49 in power. But the bases were loaded with one out, so there was still hope.

Until, of course he lined to the second baseman, who then preceded to step on the bag before Ryan could slide back, and causing me to lose by 1. fml

                    Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Well, I started out with my favorite team, the Yankees, and I simulate the first year, while I did the draft. I like to play franchise by trading older players for younger players and building through the draft. I traded A LOT. My payroll is now, by far, the lowest in the league, with like $10-13M due to my two newest players ($8M without these two) and my three or four oldest players are 26 a piece, with MANY, MANY great young prospects in my minor leagues. Here are some of my players (just the ones I remember):

                    Matt Wieters
                    Billy Butler
                    Matt LaPorta
                    Gordon Beckham
                    Ian Stewart
                    Jay Bruce
                    Colby Rasmus
                    Chris Davis
                    Dexter Fowler (AAA)
                    Travis Snider
                    Matt Cain
                    Clayton Kershaw
                    John Lannon
                    Derek Holland
                    Phil Hughes
                    Neftali Feliz
                    Daniel Bard

There are a couple others, but I don't remember them all.

                      Score: 5-1 Marlins

Top of the 7th: Bases loaded, I have Zimmerman up to bat. Hit my first grand slam. I was screaming at the TV! Was so happy! Tied up 5-5 now.

Then in the 9th, Bergmann (my relief) throws a sinker, but wait...it's too high and Dan Uggla DESTROYS it. Goodbye..goodnight..outta here! Sigh.

Marlins beat me 7-5. Great game, but I really need to fix my bullpen. Pretty realistic though because the Nats are horrible because of their bullpen. I have alot of work to do.
Nice. I've contemplated using a bad team in Franchise and trying to bring them up into a good team, but i figured id get really frustrated after a few games. Out of curiosity, whats your record with the Nats this year?

                          Opening Day @ Braves

Pitchers duel, Zambrano v Jurrjens, Big Z was solid only allowing 1 run on 5 hits thru 7 innings, Jurrjens went 8.2 allowing a few more hits but no runs.

So it was 1-0 in the top of the 9th. Soriano strikes out to lead it off, then Soto picks up a hit, followed up with Fontenot getting a single. With runners on 1st and 2nd i pinch hit Nady for Fukudome to get a righty-lefty matchup, but he strikes out. I pinch hit Baker for the pitcher spot and he musters up a single but i cant score, so the bases are loaded. Then comes Ryan Theriot, having gone 0-4 already today, he slaps one into the right field corner bringing in two.

Marmol gets the save, Caridad the W, Wagner the L

My Cubs are 1-0, exciting game

Since you didnt adjust any sliders, have you noticed a decent mix of doubles and Homeruns?

Playing as the Bo-Sox, in the 4th inning I managed to walk the bases loaded and the next at bat C.C hits Cameron for me to take the early 1-0 lead. Next at bat Lowell smacks one up the middle 2-0. Couple innings latter A-rod hits a triple to bring in Jeter and then Teixeria hits a double to bring in A-rod Score is 2-2. So we eventually end up in the bottom of the 11th when they bring in Joba and Youk hits a walk-off HR for the 1st win of the season.

I'll update some more once I play some more games. Even though I haven't played the game for awhile I still came here and read your guys updates. Reading them made me want to come back and start playing this game again.
So when I last updated it was opening day and I hit that walk-off homer. I went on to sweep the Yanks, winning the 2nd game 13-0. Right now I'm on a 3 game losing streak though, currently 13-7, a game and a half up on the O's for the top of the division.

I am now 2-3 with the Tigers. I lowered fielder speed to 25 and have only hit 3 doubles and 5 homeruns in 5 games. I think it could just be me as I am hitting .254 as a team with 38 k's and 3 walks. My pitching is awesome so far with a team ERA of 3.00 but, I have only k'd 22 and walked 6.
