Re: MLB 2K10 Official "My Player" Thread

    Opening day of 2012.

Albert Pujols and Adrian Gonzalez are sitting in free agency. They're the only two premier players that are evidently too expensive for anyone to sign.

Kind of disappointing to have the best hitter in baseball out of the game.

Where do your performance points go to? I got 128 last game but I don't see where I can add them anywhere. I went to the skill point page but all I see is the points I got from goals and hitting and fielding.

I created a 3rd baseman and got assigned to AA Springfield (Cardinals).

I started off on fire, over .400 through the first 10 games, but then went into a DEEP slump that saw my batting average fall near .200 for the year. Finally I adjusted my swing (meaning I picked a different stance) and started to warm up. It took me 70 games to get called up to the Bigs.

I don't know what the hell was wrong with me in the minors, because I am tearing the league up now that I am there. I started at the 7 spot on the lineup but moved to 6 then to 2. The Cards are pretty loaded hitting-wise, but I am contributing. Through 20 games I am still over .400. My best performance was a outing where I started off 4/4 with 1 HR and came up in the 9th inning with two outs, men on 1st and 2nd. We needed one to tie and I hit a triple into the gap for the win.

The key is getting good pitches to hit out. Make the pitcher work the zone to get you out. If you can get ahead in the count, they may throw you a meat ball.

Also, if you press the left stick far in any direction, you are out of the strike zone.

this is why there needs to be a charge the mound (plus i hate the Marlins) option i always hate getting hit by the ball.. yea they hit me about 4 to 5 times a game they prolly hate me cuz i have hit 9 home runs in the past 2 weeks lol. and also i wish i would of been injured by it just so it would be realistic.

Yeah I started avoiding the LS altogether unless I'm trying to hit through a hole in the infield.

Finally hit my first homer...and a walk-off at that! 442 foot bomb on a 3-2 pitch with 2 out and the game tied at 3 in the bottom of the 10th

Another thing bugging me about the My Player mode- it doesn't make sense to me that it goes by the career WHIP and opponent batting average for my relief pitcher, instead of the season ones. After a not so great rookie season, those got pretty high for me, but for the past three seasons in a row they've been under the goal. Besides that, I went 38 for 40 in saves in AA the last season. Does it really matter how many I put on if they never score?

But overall, it really just seems to me the goal logic is too strict. If I have a 75 overall player, doesn't it make sense that it should put me as a reliever on the MLB team, instead of waiting for the batting average and WHIP to drop to the goals?

They don't, it's still only what I got for batting during the game.

Do you mean the points it says at the top of the page at the end of a game? If so then that's just a total of your hitting, fielding, and baserunning points from that game.

My Player is terribly addictive, as much as I want to show love to my Franchise mode, I've been trying to have My Player progress. My guy is in the Yankees organization and went 0 for a lot for the first week and a half before I became consciously more patient. The guy is a SS/LF (I chose LF because right now SS is taken by a very good player...maybe you guys have heard of him) and eventually I went on an offensive tear. I was spraying hits and getting walks, but unfortunately still suck at stealing with the guy due to putrid speed ratings. Just last night I got the call though, went from Double-A Trenton Thunder right to the New York Yankees. I got two hits in my first game, one being a home run. Against the Red Sox, no less!

Since he's a midseason call up I'm not eligible for team goals or whatever so I guess I'm just building up attributes until next season. Oh, and helping the NYY get into the playoffs as well.

Nope, that's actually scored correctly. You're credited with a double and took 3rd on the throw. That happens all the time in real life baseball.

                                Agree.

I just finished my first season. My batting average was as high the .330's at one point but at the end of the season it fell under the mandatory .265 on the last day. So of course on top of that my slugging % is well below .400.

I'm hearing about people hitting all sort of homeruns. I only hit 1 during the season, which happened to actually be a grand slam.

I've been invited up to my MLB club for spring training but I imagine I won't stay there.

Question for anyone who is still in the minors during season 2...do your stats carry over from the first season or do you start fresh? I ask because at this point I just don't see myself every completing the .400 slugging % goal unless they reset.
