Re: MLB 2K10 Official "My Player" Thread

Played a decent first year as SS in the minors and got invited to spring training with the Dodgers, struggling to hit major league pitching right now. The velocity is no different but the movement and control of the pitches is a major adjustment.

I kinda want to go back to the minors and get my ratings up and come into the majors really strong, another half year in Triple A and my player would be an automatic beast.

    Love this mode.

That video was awesome. I too was pretty curious as to what that mode would look like for a position player.

One question though. From what I see, everytime you get into the game in a defensive situation, you basically KNOW that the ball is going to get hit your way, right? or do you ever get into the game for plays in which you're not directly involved?

I guess playing a whole game of real baseball when most of the time you're just watching would probably be quite boring, but I can't help thinking that the way is done seems a bit artificial, if you know what I mean.

I think I'll still go for a position player in my player mode though, after all, you're always playing with the pitcher when you play the game in normal mode, seems it would be more exciting to try another position for a change.

Correct. As I alluded to earlier in this thread, there should be an option to watch your teammates bat and sit in the field waiting for the ball to possibly get hit your way. I intended to do this when my players team was in the playoffs. But I've found this mode so addicting that I'm not too concerned about that.

I will say though that as a CF, not every time you're thrown into the game is the ball hit to you. Sometimes there will be a hard hit grounder up the middle that is fielded by either a pitcher, 2nd baseman or shortstop. I guess the game figures a hard hit grounder up the middle may get to the CF so they throw you in the game...but that's rare.

I'm experiencing a little bit of frustration in this mode though. Almost every one of my hits is a single. I've played between 30-40 games and have 3 doubles, 0 triples and 0 homeruns. I'm batting about .280 but when everything is a single I'm finding it very difficult to get a slugging % above .400. Even when I'm on base it doesn't seem like my teammates hit very many doubles and triples...and I'm yet to see a homerun while baserunning.

Also, on the flip side, when I'm fielding it seems every ball hit in the gap is an automatic triple for the CPU team, even when I take a good line to the ball. Early on when I was still figuring out the game and not taking a good line to the ball I was even responsible for several inside the park homeruns.

I've also never seen an error in the field. They happen in super sim, but in my time playing this mode and in playing the demo and regular play now games, I have not seen one error.

Just a quick update - thanks to everyone's help, I finally bumped up my attributes (I had a crazy amount of earned points to use) and I've now increased my avg from .255 to .288. I'm about 60 games in and have achieved all the goals for the call up, with the exception of slugging %.

last night I hit my first homerun - a 3 run shot into left (about 406 feet) and this morning (I'm addicted to this game) I hit another 2 runner before getting ready for work. I've got 39 RBIs on the season.

Loving this game mode so far.

TSP, errors are extremely rare but I have seen them before. Occasionally a fielder will drop a flyball or make a bad throw. They do happen.

Also, for more extra base hits, try lowering the fielder speed down to either 25 or 30, and increase your power stats.

How do you lower fielder speed in My Player mode? Before you go into the game? And what do you recommend for Pitcher Fatigue in this mode?

I've had no problem with extra base hits in the minors. I had like 13 doubles, 1 triple, and 3 or 4 home runs in 40 games. My slugging percentage was around .450.

In the majors though, guys are so much faster. I hit one to deep left center field and I was positive I'd get at least a double out of it but Jason Bay cruised over and was able to wait there for a couple seconds before finally catching it. So fast.

After about the first 20 games or so I only had only seen singles so I did lower the fielder speed to 30. It is since I did that that I have seen the three doubles I have...but they still seem a bit too rare for me. But then again, I got my contact up to 60 first and and am now working on my power attributes so power may be the key.

Hopefully some of the slider guys will get some better balance in this game. But again, despite the complaints I'm listing...I'm absolutely addicted to this mode.

THAT Guy: somewhere in your My Player menus is the ability to adjust sliders. I'm at work now so I can't tell you exactly how to get there, but it's somewhere in the options/game settings.

Alright thanks. I'm pretty sure I know where it is because I tried to edit it mid-game and found the spot for sliders but the only one available during the game is pitcher fatigue.

On a side note, I really wish I had saved the video of my first major league home run. All of my homers in the minors were just hits down the foul line that stayed fair and barely made it. This one I killed to center field and my player knew it was gone the second he hit it so he laid the bat down and started walking down to first while he watched it leave the park. It was so beautiful.

Re: MLB 2K10 Official "My Player" Thread

I have a CF for the Reds. Through about 20 games I am hitting over .320 with 2 homeruns, a triple and 4 doubles. I have met all the stat goals, but I the only attribute goal I've reached is speed at 65. I have to get my power and contact to 60 to meet the goal and I think they are both around 55 right now.

This mode is fun. I haven't even played an exhibition game, real game, anything other than this mode yet. I'll get to that very soon, but I'm just having so much fun with this right now there is no reason to stop.

Extra base hits haven't been a problem and I've not played with any sliders yet. My biggest problem is having patience at the plate. It seems like the first pitch I see from the CPU is usually a strike 95% of the time. I do strike out a lot and it is usually because I'm swinging early or late.

why would you want to sit and watch a whole game. I'd rather only be playing when I saw action. Would seem very boring to me. Some people are just weird.

RP for the Mariners. Spent my first season in AA, dont remember to many stats 1/2 in saves, 2-0, 3.43 ERA, 10-15 Ks. Only goal i missed was to keep BAA under .300, and mine was .301. Got an invite the next season to play in spring training.(My frist strikeout was Soriano.) After spring training I appeared in 1 AAA game then got the call to the pros. I've appeared a couple times in relief, i believe im 2-0 with 1 save and 6 Ks.

right now I'm a 2b in the Nationals 2A farm system and I'm pretty worthless... I've thrown to wrong bags... struck out 5 times in a game.. Yeah a real "piece of work we got here"... I shouldn't been sent to 1A! Anyways, I've been plugging away and after 30 games I'm up to hitting .211 no homers and 1 RBI! I adjusted my 360 controller...(PC version) and so now I throw to the right base. Love the mode... I'm 50 (My real age not my skill level)
so my skills are slow and still swinging early or trying to wait to long. Caught stealing, been picked off but I also beat out a pickle and got credited with a SB. This is frustrating and fun!

picked up the game on Tuesday, pretty much been playing non-stop. (missed class today) so far I've mad two players:

my first player was a SS for the Giants (destined to replace renteria and uribe) AA system and i've played close to 30-35 games. i started the first 15 games trying to do the power swing when my power rating was about 50. i was batting something like .140 w/ 5 runs 4 homeruns and 5 rbi's until i started to use the contact swing. now i'm batting around .230 w/ 15 runs, 4hr, and 22 rbi. after i got my power rating up to about 65, i started using the power swing again and doubles are no problem.

my second player was a closer for the Twins and i played 20 games before getting called up to the majors. I played roughly 15 games the first half the season and went 3-1 2 saves 30K's .916 era and got a 3 year contract. my second year i played like 90 innings and went 6-3 6 saves 80K's 2.40 era opp baa .296. i had a decent year and won reliever of the year and some other points but i really hated playing for the twins. i was 6-6 in save opportunities but i would only get garbage time (bases loaded, 1 out, pujols batting) also they let mauer go after the first season so production in my second season was dismal. i opted to go to the pirates where i'd have a solid closer spot.

really love this game. can't wait to start saving some games.

                                1. Why do I have to select options for Living Rosters and Auto Save every time I start the game?

                                2. Why, when I turn Auto Save 'Off' at the game start-up does the game auto save?

                                3. Can I only do drills on off days in the calendar?
