    I'm simming a season in a franchise

Feel free to ask questions. Please keep them to 1 per person for now and I will only be able to answer tonight for a little bit. I'll post any interesting results.

Re: I'm simming a season in a franchise

First off, simming goes very quickly. It will stop for anything you need to do and you can edit when you want to make changes (ie trade offers and injuries). You also can stop for the draft and All-Star break. The simming takes place on your calendar and you can see the standings and W/L but no stats other than how your team ranks.

Other things it will ask you if you want to stop for (automatically): trade deadline, minor league post season, 40 man roster call ups, postseason.

I have one. In past MLB 2K games, there was an issue with franchise mode in which the game would not let you advance past a certain date in the mode. This is known as the franchise freeze. Has that finally been removed?

Not sure. Once I get through everything for season 1 I can check to see how many seasons I can go. I'll do my best.

Can you post a list of the top free agents in the offseason? Last year there the top players would sign small contracts and wind up on the same team, so the free agent class was always weak.

                  Yup - no problem.

One interesting thing, and I'm not sure I can confirm this, but in the transaction log it's only showing 4 trades all season. And no FA signings. The trades:

Yankees trade AJ Burnett to the Rockies fo Seth Smith (6/12)
Twins trade Rauch, Pavano and Mijares to the Tigers for Galarraga, Clete Thomas and Bonderman (6/12)
DBacks trade Qualls to the Jays Jason Frasor (7/13)
Brewers trade Stetter and Narveson to the Rays for Dillon and Cormier (7/13)

                  A bit disturbing....

Braves beat the Sox in the WS (Sox beat the Rangers, Braves beat LA) Phills, Cards, Twins and Tigers were the other 4 teams in.

They do Silver Sluggers and Minor league Hitters and pitchers of the year as well.

Key retirees (there were a LOT)

Griffey Jr., Vizquel, F. Garcia, Eyre, Marte, Kris Benson, Chad Fox, Brett Tomko, Jason Jennings, Mike Barrett, Bruce Chen, Farnworth, Rhodes, Kip Wells, Aaron Miles, Javi Lopez, Jamie Moyer, Contreras, Weathers, Schneider, Ohman, El Duque, Guardado, Hampton, Fogg, Coste, Blanco, Redmond, Jeff Weaver, Isringhausen, Rusch, Larue, Counsell, Zaun, Suppan, Treanor, DeFelice,

After Retirees, it gives you your season performance

Then it goes over player progression and gives you top increases and decreases on your team by %.

Then it goes through re-signings for your expiring contracts. Since I took the Angels (first team) I had 15 contracts from MLB-A including Matsui and Shields. I was given the option to automatically re-sign my guys which I did.

Then I had coach re-signings, but I had no expiring contracts.

                          On to FAs

                            Sorry, man -
                            1 - already past it
2 - really looking more for franchise quesitons rather than on the field stuff
3 - if I every win the WS, I want to be sort of surprised as to what happens.

Is that Michael Bourn, the Astro's outfielder with 126 RBI's? WHAT?! He had 38 RBI's last year. Please, please, PLEASE, tell me that's not Michael Bourn. That would be a screwed up stat. That would be like one of the Molina brothers leading the league in steals.
