Has anyone really gotten into My Player?
I thought it would be a fun mode..but it's really kind of dumb. I don't like how the only time you field is when the ball is coming to you. Obvioulsy unless you're a pitcher or catcher..It basically just feels like a how good can you hit mode. It's really kinda pointless. Idk, I guess I just don't get much out of it. I think they need to focus more on franchise and online and not My Player.Tags: None -
Re: Has anyone really gotten into My Player?
I enjoy My Player. I have run into situations, while playing CF that does not involve me. Ex. being a diving stop and throw from the SS. I like playing def., especially with runners on and less than two outs. I look over the situation and decide based on where the ball is hit if I should hit the cut-off or try to throw the runner out at the bag. It can be fun if you really get into it. -
Re: Has anyone really gotten into My Player?
Well when I started out I got to choose whatever team I wanted to for some reason..(which i thought you got drafted by a team). Anyways, I was a SS and the only time I played defense was when a ground ball or pop up was to me.Comment

Re: Has anyone really gotten into My Player?
Obviously a SS will be more involved play to play then a CF. Maybe you should try another position? You can randomly select which team will draft you. I believe it is the Y or triangle button on the team select screen.Comment

Re: Has anyone really gotten into My Player?
I'm a 2B and I've had plently of plays where I haven't actually made a play on the ball. When you jump in for a fielding situation, it really just means that the ball is going to be hit near you and you gotta be ready? I've seen a lot of ground balls to the 1B, P, SS, and hits into the outfield while at 2B.NFL: Bills
NBA: Bucks
MLB: Cubs
NCAA: Syracuse
Soccer: USMNT/DC United

You can get drafted. When you get to the team selection team you can press Y [360] and it chooses a random team. I got chosen by the Giants.Comment

Re: Has anyone really gotten into My Player?
I like playing 2B, and often I have to be the cutoff man for balls hit to right, so it's more than just grounders and popups. Being involved in double plays is fun too.
I love running the bases as well.
It's a great mode, IMO.Comment

Re: Has anyone really gotten into My Player?
It's pretty cool. I made a left fielder and joined the Angels org.
Anyone else having a hard time fielding in the outfield? Man, I look horrible out there! I should be DH:o. If I continue to suck, I'm going to switch to 1B or 3B.Last edited by HK-47; 03-05-2010, 10:56 PM.Comment

Re: Has anyone really gotten into My Player?
I try to get a good jump on the ball by watching it off of the bat while in RF. I still occasionally turn the wrong way on a fly ball but can make up the distance most of the time. The line drives to the side of your player are by far the most difficult to judge, speed wise. If your angle is bad to the ball, it is a guaranteed triple every time.Comment

Re: Has anyone really gotten into My Player?
I love My Player. I made LF my primary position with SS as secondary. OF is tough as heck, and after causing my team to lose due to defense I requested a change, because I'd been put at SS for a few games due to a better LF on the team. Up until the point I switched positions I couldn't hit anything. Since then I've been on a tear, though baserunning could still use work. The Trenton Thunder are 4 games down from tops in the division. I will lead them to VICTORY!!!!Comment

Re: Has anyone really gotten into My Player?
I really like My Player. Yes, there are some weird design choices in the mode, like how you gain Baserunning skill points, but overall for a first year game mode its awesome.
Also, CF >>>>> any position really except for pitcher. OF > IF in general as well.Comment

Re: Has anyone really gotten into My Player?
LOVE this mode. I am a realism junkie, and I just can never simulate games in any sports game, as then its not what *I* accomplished. Maybe I'm weird.
Anyways, my friend and I played 55 games in a 10 hour sitting the other night. I was kind of "eh" about the fielding at first, figuring the same as the OP that "oh, I automatically know the ball is coming to me." Well, that was until I saw the first screaming and curving liner over my head and between the third baseman and I, and knowing I had to go play the cutoff (I played short in real life, and it was like second nature.) So, while you do know the ball will be somewhere in your general vicinity, its not guaranteed to be playable, and you have to make a commitment to team defense and knowing where to go with the ball. I'm fine with knowing I am not involved on the other plays and feel fine that if I play all 162 games, all the fielding and batting statistics are my accomplishments!
All and all, this is the absolute most fun I've ever had with a baseball game. Most years I create a starting pitcher the same way, and this just makes it better that I am actually able to play as a position player and still do a whole career (or two!) Highly recommended for anyone looking to have FUN.
(After those 55 games that night, I went home and got to the majors in 23 games! GO TIGERS! 78 games in 12.5 hours, and I coulda done the 81 in 13 hours, so half a season in 1 long dedicated playing session is AWESOME!!)I'm just an old guy sports gamer...Comment
