    patch ?s and doubts

For me, the biggest bugs in the game are the lack of a check swing and the lack of injuries and errors. With the developer saying that any patch would NOT include new graphics/animations, I don't see how they could properly add in either check swings or injuries, since both take additional animations. Unless, those animations are just dormant and already in the game.(?) Am I wrong here? Anyone feel differently?

Add in the 30 or so additional bugs that have been documented on 2k's own forums, I'm just not feeling too good about this game. I'm sure VC will address a number of the issues, but I think we're looking at a month or 2 of waiting time, and then the possiblity of being let down big time with the aforementioned problems. And if last year is anything to go by, one patch was all we got.

FYI, with Gamestop's current +50% trade-in value, you can get $37.50 for MLB2k10 ($40 if you have the GS Edge card). Not bad. I think that promo is only good for another week, then the game drops to $25 trade-in value.

Well, the check swings were in 2K9, and they already showed a video of 2K10 with the check swings working and umpire appeals. My guess is the animations were still in, just not active.

I thought so, too. Until I read about the other serious errors that I just hadn't noticed yet.

Statistical errors ABSOLUTELY have to be fixed. RBIs being credited to the wrong batter on sac flies, for example. In building a solid baseball game, this is where you start, making sure that the hits, errors, walks, homers, strikeouts are all recorded correctly. It's such a fundamental part of making a baseball game that it's inexusable to be ommitted.

Last year, patches took MONTHS to get submitted, approved, and implemented. I just can't see myself waiting until June to start a franchise, assuming that the patch will be out by June and will have fixed the core problems. And playing franchise with statistics being wrongfully allocated is just pointless, imo.

Another critical thing is GAMEPLAY, which is improved but still flawed. Without errors and injuries, you are getting 25 gold glovers on your team, and every guy in your lineup plays 162 games. Not realism. I give them credit for fixing most of the home run issues, but we still need a fix on the walk issues.

Even more of a problem, this game is for American league teams only, apparently. When pinch hitting for the pitcher, you should be able to leave that pinch hitter in the game. This is another fundamental aspect of baseball. If they can't get this right, then the game will stay flawed.

It's just so frustrating. The game, without big glitches, bugs, would be a great game and fun to play. But it's every year: some big glitch or bug ruins the experience.

No, the patch came out April 3rd last year, so it only was a month after release and pretty close to opening day. They said they're shooting for a similar date this year (mid-April).

And last year, there were a ton more issues, so the fixes should be easier this year as well.

I agree with you, nld. There are just too many bugs to justify keeping this game in my library. Slight improvement over last year. Might consider buying a used copy in a few months after we see what 2k has done.

jeffy, while there were may have been a few more head-scratching bugs last year, I think the 30+ that have been documented so far are ridiculous (some of them INSANE) and the consumer shouldn't have to put up with that for $60. That's thievery. Last year, we got a single patch in April that didn't fix some of the core problems, leaving us with plenty to complain about. I call that a serious lack of support from 2k. Hence, my hesitancy to believe 2k will truly fix everything that needs to be fixed.

Better to get rid of 2k10 now while the trade-in value is higher, and then hope for something more playable in May/June. Because it's just too frustrating to play in franchise mode the way things are now.
