Its the HOT/COLD or RED n Blue overlay in the strikezone. All Pitches means it's there at all times.....First Pitch means it'll show you the hot n cold zones of the batter prior to the first pitch of the at-bat. Off is Off.

In FRANCHISE Mode, yes you do. I'm not sure how its handled in My Player mode. Quick games you get the IE info automatically.
