should I get this?
I got the show 10 and 09 but may trade 10 in for 2k10...i feel if I do i may regit it then again i have 09 to fall back on. Plus I been hearing some pretty good things about this years game. Are there any killer bugs in this years game?Tags: None -
Re: should I get this?
Both are good games this year man. I wouldn't trade in the show though. It's a more solid game. 2k is doing more innovative things with the swing stick, total control, mlb today and the batters eye are all pretty intuitive in this game. I also love all the tendencies and stats they throw at you in this game.
Both games are solid, but the Show just plays well out of the box and doesn't have as many quirky things with it that might frustrate you. The show is just more fluid as far as their gameplay and animations and attention to detail, more realistic pitch counts, etc.
Ultimately there isn't a huge difference this year like past years. Both games play well this year and can be enjoyed. 2k does need to iron out certain things with their gameplay though. My two cents.
I'm actually getting a ps3 for the show this week, but I'm enjoying 2k in the meantime.
As far as killer bugs not really this year. This game is pretty solid. The batters are still a bit aggressive and some animations can be pretty wonky plus there are some issues with franchise mode and a few glitches here and there. It's just not as polished. I wouldn't say anything is a game killer though.
This is a really good game.Last edited by kgisyourfather; 03-10-2010, 05:30 AM. -
Re: should I get this?
These are my options to get my baseball fix
i have a 360, a ps2 (which surprisingly still works after several years of non use), and a PSP. but dont have a PS3
MLB2k10-obviously my only option for 360, but have to pay full price or close to it.
MLB 10- PSP around $40, PS2 around $30
I read that mlb 10 for psp/ps2 isnt really much of an upgrade over mlb 09 so i could probably pick up either version of mlb 09 for $10 used...then wait till mlb 2k10/mlb 10 falls in price. Unfortunately neither PSP/PS2 have online play which would be the main reason to buy a game
Still unsure on which choice.
BTW, ive never played mlb the show series, but I was surprised they kept the controls simple like mvp 05. no swing stick. Just used zone, directional hitting and face buttons, meter pitching. They keep it simple and improve the features/gameplaysim factors.
MLb2k goes more challenging w/ using the stick for both hitting, throwing. I would admitthis is more fun, but the rest of the game and detail aspect suffers. Although has been improved for 2k10Last edited by rayver723; 03-10-2010, 06:42 AM.Comment

Re: should I get this?
I honestly would hold off on 2k10 until we see what the patch fixes since you already have the show.
I only have a 360 so this game is my only choice.
With that being said 2k10 is a good game but after about 20 games with it I am getting really frustrated with it. The cpu fatigue is broken and even on the higher settings it is just too easy to pitch. Also I can not hit for any power at all I have hit 2 hrs in my Reds season after 9 games. I have not seen 1 user or cpu error in 20 games and it is damn near impossible to steal a base. As you can see it just doesnt play a realistic game right now.
Again alot of these issues can be fixed via a patch, wait to see what the patch fixes and then decide.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: should I get this?
Yeah I'm pondering getting 2k10 as well, and I have the show. The Show is still fun, but it's getting a bit tiresome with the same exact gameplay, and the franchise issues that have popped up.
My main pet peeve that I'm hearing 2k10 as working semi-well, is team budgets and free agency. The Show is a joke when it comes to this, as the players' contracts are close to accurate, but the team budgets are way off, and it doesn't matter how many times you fix the grass or upgrade the weight room, it still gives you entirely too much money to spend on free agency.
So, for the analog controls, better commentary, etc. I might pick up 2k10, I can always trade it once the show is patched.Comment

Re: should I get this?
for guys looking to switch over.
heres a player who did.
i if you love the language of baseball: the stats
get it
but be warned
there ARE issues that need to be addressed.
others have stated this and they r correct.
lack of injuries
hit variety lacking
rubberband fielding
graphic which teeter for bright and exciting, to drab and uninspired
the hitte/pitcher battle ROCKS, you can read pitches very weel and get mucho walks
do u love stats tho!Comment

Re: should I get this?
You have got to love the graphics and realism in The Show, however for gameplay, commentary, franchise, the total control swing stick for batting and use of the stick for pitching..that goes to 2k10.
Like others have stated, 2k10 has alot of issues. Some of the major ones right now are:
- Pitchers fatigue resets to 99 after they get to like 20-30.
- CPU stealing is godly, while User stealing is extremely difficult.
- Free Agency has issues where players are asking for cheap contracts so there are NO good players that end up on free agency.
- Fielding has problems where every player has a rocket arm and I've had CF's deep in the outfield throw someone out running from 2nd base to Home.
- No injuries
- Too many pitchers hit way too good...almost better than studs.
There are many other problems, but don't want to list too many. When the patch releases probably around the first regular season game (April 4th I believe), then this game will be better than The Show if they fix alot of the problems.Comment

I am not bashing this game or saying the show is better (360 only, never played the show.
But how can you say a game with all these problems has good gameplay??ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment
