    Manager Arguing

I put this in the wishlist thread, but I am going to share it with you guys. I have an idea for manager arguing on calls made by the Ump. If you know you were safe, but the ump called you out you should be able to get a reward for your argument, even though there is no challenge system in baseball like football, the reward should be stat boosters for any batter for just 1 inning.

Ex: I run to first base with Alberto Callaspo, I step on the bag before the 1st basemen did and I was called out. I get out of the dugout with Trey Hillman to argue the call and even though Alberto was called out, I was correct with arguing. I recieve stat boosters +5 Power, +5 Contact and can add it to any batter of my choosing for one time only, in one inning, any situation. Say bases are loaded and Billy Butler comes to bat, I can add the booster to him for that one time

If you win two arguments, you can argue for a 3rd time. If you argue twice and the call was correct by the Ump, manager gets ejected.

what do you think? it makes the game more real and a reason to argue with the Umps

Yeah, MLB 2K6/2K7 had a system where you could argue a call, and you would press A while you were arguing. There were maybe three tiers at which you could argue at, and if you made it through all three you would be boosting your team's attributes much higher. You could have tried to play it safe and stayed on a first-tier argument though, which would be a minimal boost.

But you had to be careful, it was like Hot Potato and there were certain red zones that you didn't want to fall into. It was a risk/reward system going higher up while arguing. If you fell into a red zone, your manager would be ejected and all subs would be set to auto.

In head-to-head player or against the computer, if they argued and it went into the red zone, a certain button icon would pop up that you would have to push at the correct time to eject them. If it's the wrong button or wrong time, they leave Scot-free with the boost.

It was a decent system. Shame that they took it out.

The problem with this is people would complain that they lost a game because the cpu controlled ump blew a call. You would have to make the game have bad calls by umps, do we really want that? I for one know I wouldnt. I dont want to play a whole season of 162 games and then lose a playoff series because a call was intentionaly missed by the ump.
The reason we cant/dont argue calls in most video games is because they never miss calls.
The exception is Madden, but in Madden you can challenge calls if they miss one just like in real football.
We cant have missed or bad calls in baseball or basketball games because we cant challenge the bad calls. The average gamer (which makes up 80-90% of sales) would have a cow if missed/bad calls cost them a game.

The things is sometimes the animation might not reflect what the game detects. I've seen several calls where a runner was or wasn't tagged visually on the screen, but the game has ruled the opposite. I imagine the call was right, but the animation was wrong.

Also, I enjoy the idea of variable umpires behind the plate. It sucks getting wrung up on a bad call, but it sucks in real life, too, but those are the breaks and they happen to the best hitters.

So the real question is then do the Umps miss calls or is the animation off?

I have seen on a double play that 2nd base was not touched but the Ump called the runner out. The SS must of missed the bag by at least .5 feet but it was a bang bang play.

That is just like real baseball, the middle infielders hardly ever touch the bag when turning 2.
