OS Fantasy Baseball Guide Featuring MLB 2K10

Here are our Top 10 players at each position according to a season sim we conducted with Major League Baseball 2K10 from 2K Sports. So if you are stuck on who to pick in your fantasy league drafts, look no further than this list as your starting guide. Will MLB 2K10 lead you to victory or defeat? We'll find out after the jump!

This was really cool to see. Pretty believable stats. I'd be shocked if Torii ganks 38 bags though! In general for all players runs seemed a little light in some cases. But overall, all the stats are pretty believable.

A lot of good options at 2B this year?! I can't agree with that! It's weak! A lot of unproven talent. Potentially good options, I guess is how I'd phrase that. Hard to say how Zobrist, Beckham, etc will pan out. They definitely could have a big year. Not much to rely on outside of Utley, Kinsler, Pedroia, and maybe Roberts though.

edit: any chance you have top 10 in SB's for your sim year?

Nice feature, well done. I enjoyed reading that and comparing the players at each position. I was surprised to not see Heath Bell from the Padres in the top closers though. After last year I would think he would rate. Maybe it was a fluke year. I hope not, I'm a SD fan and we will need all the help we can get winning / closing games.

Regarding the stats you generated, they all look pretty realistic and reasonable to me. I've not yet done a lot of simming with 2K10 yet but from what I've read in these forums the sim stats are not good. (i.e., too many homers, too many stolen bases, not enough Ks, etc).

So how did you do you sim with 2K10, that is any special options you chose before running the sim? (season length, innings per game, injuries off, etc) It would be good to know.

      Thanks in advance.

      Thanks, Keith

The simulated batting averages in this game are screwed up. There were just 6 guys with BA of .310 or higher? Prince Fielder who has yet to hit above .300 in his career wins the batting title with a .327 average while Albert Pujols who has yet to hit under .313 in his career hits only .297. I don't understand how Martin Prado had a better average than AP? There was just 14 or so people with a .300 BA. There were 35 in the MLB last year.

And I don't think this was a fluke. In my second year ( first full ) in My Player, my guy was 2nd in the league in BA behind Manny Ramirez who had a .354 BA. The guy in third place? Albert Pujols who hit .295! Just 2 GUYS that hit .300!! One of them being MY GUY! So really just ONE! That's it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm loving this game but this is one thing that kinda upsets me.
          MLB: St. Louis Cardinals
          NBA: New York Knicks
NFL: Houston Texans, St. Louis Rams
          NCAA: Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

Yeah, sim stats are messed up. Prince did hit .299 last year so he's more than capable of hitting over .300 but Pujols hit .269 in his first full season with the Yankees in my My Player. How is that realistic? Also, if you look at that list Ryan Howard hit .247 and Sizemore hit .245. Aaron Hill hit .223? Jayson Werth .243? Yeah, something is very wrong. Also, errors are way up but never happen when you actually play the game. Pitching stats are again way off. Simmed a full season and King Felix and Cliff Lee had a combined 10 wins!!!

Cool thread but I don't understand the simulated stats for the pitchers - they actually look very good. When I sim seasons, I see elite starting pitchers with ERAs in the mid 4's to the the low 6's... Were sim stats tweaked at all with the first patch?

The batting averages do look low, but my main concern was the pitcher's ERA's as a whole. I remember simming one season and Halladay had the lowest ERA in MLB with a 3.32 while guys like Greinke, Felix, Lincecum, Webb and a few others had ERA's approaching 5 and 6.

I don't think the patch fixed simming. The ERA's are still a problem at least in My Player. Lincecum, Greinke, Cain, Webb, Haren, CC, Wainwright, Carpenter, Lee, Halladay, etc. are still no where close to putting up Cy Young numbers. Maybe I need to start another franchise for the patch to work but I can only go by what I've seen.
