    Defensive highlight type plays

Has anyone seen any amazing defensive "highlight" type plays? I've seen a few diving catches but nothing spectacular. Heck, I've only had the opporunity for a couple of diving type plays myslef, after about 15 games.

As much as last years game was ripped on, at least it had better defensive plays.....players diving and throwing from their knees, etc. This years game, from a defensive standpoint is just too automated.....no fun to play "D" in this game.....kinda sucks!

It sure would be nice if a patch made "D" better. Thoughts anyone?

I've robbed one or two HRs, that's about it. Unless of course you consider Jeff Francouer throwing a guy out at first base from RF a defensive highlight

      Terrible thread. Terrible reply.

I mean, how are any of those not defensive highlights? If someone threw someone out from the warning track like Mickey Mantle, people would be complaining about outfield arms. Diving catches, throws from your knees, and robbing home runs are just one of many types of defensive highlights. I do not know what you two expect. Throwing someone out while you're diving for a ball or something? I recommend playing The Bigs or something. Get real. Good luck.

Wow. Who pissed in your Wheaties this morning?

It's not a terrible post and reply as I have noticed this as well. I haven't been able to snag a diving play yet in My Player as a SS. I have dove a number of times on groundballs and have come up empty. It seems like I have better luck just running to it and hoping I get a running animation because the dives are so innacurate: i.e., diving towards a line drive animation when the ball is on the ground or diving on the ground when the ball is in the air.

          Maybe. Maybe not.

I have trouble with that camera angle as well, but I have been able to make a defensive highlight. See the videos below under "2K Sports." However, playing an exhibition or franchise gave has given many chances to make a defensive highlight.

My apologies - you don't have to read or even post if its such a terrible thread.

This is kind of what I'm trying to figure out - have people had much success with these types of plays. I've had terrible luck trying to dive for catches.....like you said, it almost seems like I have better luck just running toward the ball. Also, like you point out as well, I'll dive while the ball is still in the air.

              Thanks for your input.

                  Re: Defensive highlight type plays

In My Player (LF), I've robbed two HRs with well-timed jumps. Also missed about 4-5 that way, too. In the regular games I've played, I've yet to make any diving catches, but have made some snags deep in the hole and done a leaping throw to 1B or turned a pretty spiffy DP.

The CPU has done loads of diving stops, throws from knees, leaping snags of liners, etc., but I've yet to see any diving/sliding catches in the OF and I've not yet had any HRs robbed by the CPU.

I've had about 4-5 successful dives in My Player with my second baseman.

same with me. I can't dive in My Player bacause "C" button doesn't work, is there any other button assigned to it? Even in AA other infielders dive here and there but neither do I.

Fielding controls outside of my player are terrible. The game seems to autofield for you, making dive attempts unresponsive. Bottom line is that fielding in this game outside of my player is not terribly fun.
