Problem with 4 Seam FB and 2Seam FB Gesture
For some reason these last 2 days my FBs have been tailing to the left, like im messing up the gesture. It seems like the game wants me to move the stick straight up and down, but every controller i have(and there is over 10 because my room mate repairs red ring xboxs and then re sells them) seems to have a natural tilt to the left, and seems like its axis was designed this way because of how you hold the controller.I was just wandering if anyone else has ever had this happen to them because it has never really bothered me untill now,its to the point where i cant even use my 2 seamer because its landing smack in the middle of the plate everytime.I dunno maybe all these controllers are too warn,im ********,or some sort of combo of those to.Tags: None -
Re: Problem with 4 Seam FB and 2Seam FB Gesture
I've noticed a similar problem - but mine may be a bit different. All my right handed pitchers seem to consistently throw the ball to the right of where I aim and vice versa for my left handed pitches.
From what I can tell it has nothing to do with my gestures because the pitch analysis shows them as being nearly perfect. -
Re: Problem with 4 Seam FB and 2Seam FB Gesture
If it isn't telling you bad gesture, but your pitches seem inaccurate missing left and right, I think its something to do with the pitcher camera. What I would try is using pitching cam 2 and raise the height to 7 or 8 just to see if you're hitting spots from straight on. It seems like from the angle of cam 1 and 3 where you think you are locating is slightly different from where you are actually locating because of the awkward vantage point.Comment

Re: Problem with 4 Seam FB and 2Seam FB Gesture
Yea star you may be right i played again tonight and it diddnt seem to do it as much.I dunno if i was just looking and trying to hard and messin something up.I use pitch cam 1: 2-1-7 so its almost dead straight like pitch cam 2(a very very slight angle barley noticable).I was doing it in my player and my pitchers FB is maxing out at 101(although i have never seen it go past 100)and my 2sm at 97,and i know there is a variance in pitch speed but i was getting ones that came in at like 90 every so often.
I would use pitch cam 2 but i dont like being so close it makes it look like your lobbing your pitches, even zoomed all the way out and with pitch speed at 100.Comment

Re: Problem with 4 Seam FB and 2Seam FB Gesture
Yea I've been so torn on what pitching cam to use, I don't like 2 because you have to have it pretty high to be able to see the whole zone over the pitcher's head. I don't really like 1 or 3 though either because of the locations being off like you were saying. I usually do use 3 and just change the zooms to something less angled. I think you can get used to the weird angle and how it effects your locations though.Comment

Re: Problem with 4 Seam FB and 2Seam FB Gesture
Yea i know what you mean, when the cam is up too high you really dont see much movement off the pitches, and if you want it low you gotta have it angled a decent bit, your right i got used to it in 2k9,im still trying to figure out which ones i like best every once in a while i toy around with it.
My main problem is when your zoomed in close,it really looks like your lobbing 60mph softballs to the hitters, and when zoomed out you get a realistic looking speed, but everything just looks straight.Comment

Re: Problem with 4 Seam FB and 2Seam FB Gesture
Oh my GAAAAWWWD!! I thought I was going crazy or something because I had this problem and thought it was my controller. I always have to move the stick up slightly to the right to throw a fastball straight. I thought I was going nuts.Comment

Re: Problem with 4 Seam FB and 2Seam FB Gesture
I have this type of problem throwing sliders with lefties. The gesture is supposed to be move the stick to the 9 oclock position and then go counter clockwise to 3 oclock, but when I do this I always end up aiming the pitch nowhere near where I wanted to aim it. To get a more accurate pitch I need to start the gesture around the 7 or 8 oclock positionComment

Re: Problem with 4 Seam FB and 2Seam FB Gesture
You have to experiment with the pitches and just see where they actually go. Sometimes they go where they're not "supposed" to go but it will generally be consistent or at least it has for me.
My 4 seamer tends to ride right to left a little bit. Or at least it is aimed slightly to the left of where I aim it... Same with my change.
The Curve, 2 seam, work as they're supposed to. My splitter is the wild card, it does whatever the hell it wants.Comment

Re: Problem with 4 Seam FB and 2Seam FB Gesture
Its not just the camera,i sat around with the pitch analyzer on and ran through about 20 of each of my pitches(in my player mode)I have the following: 4 seam FB,2 seam FB,changeup, power curve,12-6 curve.
In game, the gesture it shows you, like other people have
said, for a 4sm FB a 6 to 12 motion. In reality its more like a 5 to 11 or somewhere in between the too.In the 20 pitches i threw i got about 3 to be perfect, which means just a straight line on the analyzer. My FB speed is maxed out but even then one of the perfect gestures i threw clocked at 93,the others were at 99 and 97.It seems like as long as your straight on the 2nd motion, meaning going from 5 to 11, it will go to your selected location, the first motion may play more of a role in speed but didnt seem to affect location that much as long as you where close.
The 2sm FB+changeup is what is really frustrating me,because i cant find where straight up is on my controller, no matter where i put it,it leans to the left or right. The few times i get it to go straight up to start the gesture,it shows me moving to the left then to the right, and i know im not doing that.(im RHP so 12 to 3 would be the gesture) which ends up killing the pitches movement, location, speed or all of the above.I can get the pitch to semi do what its suppose to by leaning the stick slightly to the right before i make the gesture, but then it cuts the horizontal and downward movement of the pitch down by about half.
I have also noticed this is not a problem with newer controllers were the stick does not have play in it,or doesnt wobble. But the problem is after about 3 days of using that controller,it ends up like one that has been used for months because of the constant quick movements.
The curveballs diddnt present any type of problem at all for me,except for the fact the it feels like a racoon nawwed on the sides of the stick from doing them. The plastic is all rough from moving it in the circle motion and sometime it snags the stick.
I have just been dealing with it,makes the game a little more challenging, but this now leaves me wondering what the hell the control stat does for pitches, cuz i tried one with 50 control and 90 movement, and one with 90 control and 90 movement and it diddnt make a bit of difference.
If you read all of this you are a champion.Last edited by SphillyBG; 03-31-2010, 10:16 PM.Comment

Re: Problem with 4 Seam FB and 2Seam FB Gesture
OK i have found a way to get perfect gestures almost every time. By pushing your tumb against the right side of the stick slightly, then use it to go down then up,or up then right,i found it extremly easy to be perfect or close enough so that it doesnt affect the pitch. In case anyone has this problem just toy around with this method and find your sweet spot.I had to turn my sliders up after this to around 65-70 contact and kept it at 100 power because i was starting to get to many K's.Comment
