Trades in my player mode

I just finished my first whole season with the Red Sox. At the end of it, we've lost a bunch of players to free agency but the team has not acquired anybody. Do you guys know if this is a known error or I just got unlucky with lousy management?

Beef Boonser is our number 5 starter...

This happened to me too on the Cardinals. After my first season they let every free agent go and didn't even resign one person or sign any other free agent. That just doesn't seem right.

same exact thing happened to me with the red sox. becket, martinez, big popi, etc all gone. no one new signed. minors used to plug the gaps. and of course lackey's and others ratings plummeted. funny thing is, we're winning more this year so far than last (?)

I think someone stated it was because all teams are like -200 million over the cap, so no one is ever resigned. makes sense. just another 2k bug that boggles the mind that it wasn't caught early on...

Yeah, some real questionable moves by the Cubs as well. But I can live with that. Its the CPU managing AI that drives me nuts. Plays the same lineup every day and I mean EVERY day...I'm into late June and there 3 or 4 guys on the bench with ZERO at bats. One is the backup catcher!!! Starters regularly build up pitch counts into the 140s and 150s...and no one in the entire league is hurt...c'mon its the end of June...3 months and nobody's been hurt? "My Player" is a lot of fun but it really needs some touching up.

There is a HUGE glitch in the team budget system.Look under organization managment and look at your budget.Here is an example of mine
Phillies Budget 140 mil
Budget amount used 60mil
Amount Available -200 mill(yes negative 200mil)
It affects every team,happend to me in franchise mode too after i played through the first season,so no one could even fill their roster with enough players.I have seen a number of people post this glitch so i doubt its just me.No fix for it either.
After a while you will see Ryan Howard,Albert Pujols and a bunch of other big names sit on the FA list for eternity,you can check that in My Player by going to player stats and scrolling over til the team name is Free Agents.

Whoa, I didnt catch that ...that would explain why some of my better teamates are not only gone but also with no other team. Here's a thought....I keep hearing of some of the "My Player" saves going bad. Maybe the game is locking up because our Player's contract is up and no team is re-signing him.

The my player save glitch,or the one that got me and alot of others,was happening in your second full season during the playoffs(this one has been fixed,but ALWAYS KEEP BACKUPS),and you dont reach FA until your 3rd full year.But what you said is something i am going to check out.
Im at my last start for my 3rd full year but i wont be able to finish it until tommrow night,then im in the playoffs but i have off on friday so i will probably finish tommrow night.I will go through and check out your theory and post back here.

Yep, this is a big problem. That's why I edited the contract years on all the players on the Mariners. I didn't get too carried away with it, but Felix has a new contract, as does Franklin Gutierrez and a few other guys.

Definitely something that 2K needs to look at.
