MLB Today and random pitcher selection?
Played MLB Today and noticed that despite showing NYY v Sox starting CC v Beckett respectively, random pitchers were selected. Know this is standard for Play Now, but was hoping actual pitching match-ups would be available during MLB Today for regular season. Did I miss something or was I just too early?Tags: None -
Re: MLB Today and random pitcher selection?
Don't understand this either? The whole feature is supposed to work on the premise that you get the actual rosters of today's games down to the starting pitchers and lineups, no? Am I missing something? Otherwise, how is it different than ANY other exhibition game? -
Re: MLB Today and random pitcher selection?
I know. I see it too. It's really frustrating when the whole point is to play MLB "today" as in today's lineup and rotation. 2k10 I have held such a favorable outlook on and defend quite a bit based on the improvement over 2k9, but it's really starting to get on my nerves with these type of issues.Comment

Re: MLB Today and random pitcher selection?
The worst part about random pitching selections is that is makes it impossible to to set them yourself. At least last year, before starting up a game, I could go into pitching rotations and set the pitcher I wanted to face as the #1 guy. Now, it doesn't matter, and you have to just keep restarting the game to get the match-up you want.
It seemed like during spring training that there were times when the starting pitchers were set, while other times it was random.
I got random starters last night when I tried to play the Yankees/Red Sox games.
Again, if they just made it so I could set my opponents starting pitcher and line-up pre-game, it would be no big deal. I can't figure out why they left that option out two years in a row. It was a blunder last year, now it feels like a dick move.Comment

Re: MLB Today and random pitcher selection?
I don't know that it's random pitchers, I think it's just a day behind. In both of my games, I got #5 starters for both teams. I'll bet if we play tomorrow, it'll be a lot of #1 starters going. It's a bit annoying, and hurts the feature a lot, imo.Comment

Re: MLB Today and random pitcher selection?
I just played an MLB Today game. It was Rockies at Brewers. Both of the Opening Day starters were on the mound. You can change the lineups by hitting, I think it's select at the screen where it shows the teams logos and whose pitching.PS3, we had a good run! (7/18/09-10/5/14)Comment

Re: MLB Today and random pitcher selection?
You can only change the line-up and pitcher for your own team. And if you are play an AL team, you can't even see who the starting pitcher is, let alone change it.Comment

Re: MLB Today and random pitcher selection?
As for adjusting CPU line-ups pre-game; the only work-around is to have two controllers turned on and set both lineups the way you want. Then before throwing the first pitch, pause the game and move controller2 to be controlled by the CPU. The only problem with this is I dont think you can un-lock cards. (Not that I can anyways since I use custom sliders.)
As for MLBtoday, I didnt get random starters, but I did get the #5 starters. Which while it wasnt random, its still not how its supposed to work.Comment

Re: MLB Today and random pitcher selection?
I'd be curious to know if any of the other MLB Today features are working. There are other menus for Stats, Insider, Player Progression, etc. I know the Stats menu (or maybe that was Box Scores?)I could even get into during Spring Training. Also, as I've stated many times on these forums the MLB ticker is completely broken (not the background scores in MLB Today) but the bottom scrolling ticker for MLB only is broken. NBA works fine. My 360 froze twice when I went into the Insider Today or whatever it's called. So annoying. They put these features in but they don't work properly.Comment

Re: MLB Today and random pitcher selection?
Was just messing around with MLB Today and have found that the game is now producing the right starting pitchers. I tried it with several teams, and it now seems to be working as it is supposed to work.Comment
