Press the back button while in the batters box and your batter will move to the other batters box if hes a switch hitter! Why do they even bother adding this?

Because that's the whole point of being a switch hitter?

The only time in real life you ever see a switch hitter go out of the norm (not bat lefty against a righty or righty against a lefty) is when their facing a knuckler. I'm sure it happens every now and then in some random situation, but 99% of the time, they stick to the switch hitting norm. It may not be needed, but it lets people mimic what happens on occasion in real life, though I'm sure it gets abused by some if the game doesn't punish them for doing so.
