I cleared my cashe and downloaded the first patch again and all freezing has stopped. Generated rookies do not freeze anymore, i tested ten games in septemeber with a whole line up of generated rookies and it did not freeze once.
My guess is that the issue was either cashe related or they snuck a fix in the first patch????
Also the menu freezing has stopped as well and the game seems to be running smoother.

I'm gonna throw this out there, and it's certainly not definitive by any means. I bought this game fairly late, so the first patch had been out for quite some time. I hadn't seen any of the freezing problems reported around here until my franchise would freeze upon loading. I cleared my cache, redowloaded the patch, and the franchise has worked perfectly since. I've never crashed on an amateur draft guy playing (before or after clearing my cache). Most likely I've just been lucky haha.

I will say that it has seemingly sped things up, but that's supposed to happen when you clear the cache.

It's worth a shot, there's absolutely no ill effect on your console aside from having to re-dowload patches for games.

kpkp pointed this thread out to me, I'll have to check it out. I'd really hope this fixes it. Although I already edited all the drafted position players down to 0, but I can still test it with one of my saves. Hope it works.

So I finally got around to testing it today, and it didn't work for me.

The first four guys in my lineup were drafted positon players that I called up.

The first guy came up, and everything went fine. I was thinking it finally fixed it.

BUT, then the second guy came up and he froze it.

Lame. Ill stick w my workaround until the patch hopefully fixes this mess. I still love this game tho.

I redownloaded all of the patches and it seems to make the game run better, but I never had a problem with the freezing though either ::knock on wood::; although if this patch doesn't address some glaring gameplay issues and if information isn't released soon I will be done with this game.

duke776 - my franchise still hasnt froze since i made this post....but everyday i play i am waiting for it to happen. i am not surprised that your franchise froze. This issues goes down as one of the worst issue i have seen since madden 08. Gameplay is great but the issues kill the game.....

Well I hope you get lucky and don't have any guys freeze it for you.

But if they don't fix this problem in the patch, I don't know how I could support this game next year. Like you said the gameplay is great, but this issue alone basically kills franchise for anyone wanting more than one season.

Nope, you might have missed my post on the last page, but I had the top 4 guys in my lineup called up drafted position players.

The first guy that came up everything went fine, no freezes and I was hoping it'd continue.

But on the 2nd guy the game froze.

Also, I don't know if you saw my post in the "Freeze on Drafted players" thread, but I learned that there are some drafted pitchers who will freeze the game while coming up to bat. Not all of them will, but there's some that will. It might be tied into being called up too, because I've faced some before and had no problem, but I'd have to look into it more.
