    Game Length?

    Hey Guys,

I was just wondering what the average game length of 2k10 is? The reason is that when I play the Show it takes near 2 hours to get through a game.

    Re: Game Length?

I would say roughly 45 minutes. It could be longer but 2k decided to make the longer game speed the same as quick play. They say signature style (batter routines and whatnot) is a feature in the game, yet somehow they forgot to add it in between pitches. Also the CPU always swings at the first pitch so that always cuts down on time. I never realized this till the other day but this game is truly great for people who don't want 100% realism and don't want to spend 2 hours on a game. The only problem is I want exactly what The Show has. 2k is really fun despite some of its problems but the more baseball I watch on TV the more realistic I want the game to be and 2k isn't doing it for me. I've only played the show a few times at my friends house and I really like it but I can see how it could get old really fast like many people have been saying.

well the show is a fine game, don't get me wrong. If you do go that route, trust me on this, go with classic pitching mode rather than meter. I find the pitch counts are more realistic.

I am giving 2k10 a shot for a change of pace. I am not too happy to hear the cpu swings at every first pitch... wasn't that a gripe from 09?

Anyways I bought it through steam....

It's not true by any stretch. I will admit that pitch counts are not as high as they need to be, but my starters will hit 80 pitches or more through seven innings most of the time.

I know some guys really miss the long fidgets by the batters between pitches. But the game plays much faster without that BS. Would it have been nice to keep the 2 hour gameplay mode? Maybe. I think there is also a chance that the the real-time stuff might have made it harder to throw in the new presentation stuff 2K added this year. And I will take the stats overlays and relevant commentary over an accurate look at Pujols wiggling his bat.

The cpu hitters don't swing at every first pitch at all. You will see when you get the game.

As for length of play I would say it's the same as the Show depending on how you play. I generally skip through a lot of things on both games and it takes me 45 minutes to an hour depending on how many runs are scored (and that was for both games). If it's taking you 2 hours to play a game on the Show then you are choosing the highest level of presentation and are skipping nothing.

As for pitch counts, I get pretty realistic pitch counts from my starters. They might be a little low but I also think it depends on your style of play and sliders. If the cpu offense is cranked you will be less likely to throw strikes all day long and more likely to nibble. I threw over 50 pitches this morning with Verlander after 3 innings.

2K10 is only 45 minutes roughly, but you will receive a ton of realism. The commentating in the game is so good, I never get tired of it. I even sometimes hear new stuff.

              Re: Game Length?

I stand by my statement of the CPU swinging at many first pitches. Yes they did fix it but it still isn't the way it should be. They say that the players play as their real life counterparts. Many times the hitters do hit like themselves and work the count or foul off pitches, but I find that most hitters swing at every first pitch. I have had so many 3 pitch innings its unreal. Now I have adjusted the CPU hitting sliders to force myself to make perfect pitches on the corners and throw more balls and it has helped a little bit but it should not be that way. I shouldn't have to force myself to throw balls to make my pitch count higher. Patch 2 did a decent job at fixing the easiness of the pitching but I can still paint corners for the most part even with the pitching meter speed at 100. Patch 2 did a great job at fixing this game despite the in game errors or injuries. I would say this game is really good for a change of pace because there really are no similarities between this game and the show. It's kind of cool that its like that.

I did a small test about this while ago. 2 games, one with hurry-up on took 45 min, one wihtout took about an hour.

I am noticing that it is taking about an hour or a little over. I don't play with hurry up.

I don't mind an hour, the Show was taking me an hour and a half at least and as much as 2 hours.

How was The Show taking that long?

I get a game of MLB 10 done in like 40 minutes. Half hour if it's a pitcher's duel.

The Show can take up to 2 hours I guess if you are letting EVERY piece of presentation play out. I never had a problem playing a game in under one hour of the Show in the past. I take just as long playing a game with 2K10 as I did with the Show 09.

Ok that is weird. I do watch the cut scenes and what not. I don't like skipping everything, or playing "fast play." Even trimming down a little of the scenes I still get a long game.

It's really isn't that big of deal, but for some reason when I play 2k10 it just feels faster. Although last night I had a long inning while pitching as Harang v Texas. They got 5 runs that inning and no homers...

I just finished a game in which Texas won 6-2 in just 36 minutes. I didn't spend any time going over stats and looking at replays. It helped that Colby Lewis went 8.1 innings, and I only made on pitching change.

Seattle had just 5 hits, two of which were HR's. Texas scored their 6 run on just 9 hits, 4 of which were doubles.

it takes me between 45-1 hour and 15 minutes.

ive had some really long games that go up to an hour and half (extra innings) but ive also had some short ones too, like under 40. it depends really.
