LR means Long Reliever. These are the pitchers who have a stamina around the 55 to 70 range that are not a starting pitcher. They tend to pitch in "mop up" duty, either when the starter gets shelled early and goes only an inning or two, or when the game is a blowout.

MR means Middle Reliever. These are the pitchers who stamina is around the 40+ range and usually pitch the 6th and/or 7th innings. You'll want to use them if the game is close and your starter is tiring.

SU means Set Up Pitcher - he's the 8th inning guy, and can be a specialist (ie. lefty pitcher who is solid against left-handed batters but possibly not against righties).

CL means Closer Pitcher - he's your stud 9th inning guy, unless you just have happened to me in a game I just played in which Chris Perez blew a one run lead for the Indians.

    Hope this helps...

The only problem is that in franchise mode, they will use MR's in the LR role and MR role, they rarley ever use your SU guy at all,and same goes for your closer. They dont bring the closer in for a tie game in the 9th when your at home, and half the time they wont bring him in for a save situation.
The SU guy is the worst though,if you sim a full season, he usually will appear in like 20-25 games with like 20IP.
Also they often use guys for more than a inning. You will see your closer go 3+IP at times MR going 6+IP and for some reason it seems to randomly select one MR/LR guy to use a majority of the time.
Most guys will have 25-30 Apperances and one guy will have like 60 with over 100IP.

I guess that problem would be easily fixed by (dare I say it?) playing every game for yourself. I know 162 games is a long time, but at least that way YOU are in control.

Only respectable people deserve respect, you destroyed the game.
