    Pitching to the pitcher

Does the computer EVER throw a ball to the pitcher spot? With two outs and my pitcher up (and no-one on) I like to see how many pitches I can waste by sitting, but it's always 3. The computer never throws a strike to my pitcher spot. Even when I pinch-hit, the batter still gets nothing but strikes. Is there a way to fix this or am I bitching over something out of my control?

Hmm. I've gotten 1 ball before.

But think about it for a second. 2 outs and nobody on, why would the pitcher throw balls? They take some speed off their fastball to locate it better and throw strikes because pitchers typically can't hit, unless of course you are Micah Owings.

I was really just giving a for instance with the none-on two-out thing. Really, in ANY at bat with a pitcher or pinch-hitter in the pitcher's spot, I've NEVER seen a ball.

Question remains, is there a way to fix this?

        Re: Pitching to the pitcher

I've never seen a ball thrown to a pitcher in this game, and I played around 130-140 games. I did however, get hit a few times as the pitcher.

krisxsong, what you're saying makes sense. But that just doesn't happen. In last nights reds vs brewers game, there were 6 balls thrown to pitchers. There were a total of 19 pitches thrown to pitchers. One was even walked. Now that doesn't obviously happen every game, the braves mets game there was only one ball thrown to a pitcher, out of 11 pitches to pitchers.

I just don't understand why the computer magically can throw every pitch for a strike when the pitcher is up. IF a pitcher falls behind another pitcher, then yes they should easily take something off to locate, but it's not impossible to throw a ball to the pitcher.

I can see giving the pitcher a little boost in control, but the way 2k has it right now is way overdone.

Yup, this bugs me as well. The pitcher can never draw a walk in this game. Hope they fix it next year.

Agreed. I can't think of a time that I have had a pitcher up to bat and seen anything but strikes. Pitchers aren't supposed to draw walks, but they are supposed to be capable of drawing walks. This is why I generally go up there free-swinging as a pictcher. Maybe they will fix it next year, but I highly doubt it.

It's not just pitchers, but ANYBODY in the pitcher's spot. Even when I have somebody pinch-hitting for my pitcher, they don't see balls either. That's even more unrealistic than the pitcher not seeing any.

I was glad I read this thread about the pitcher's seeing strikes. My first interleague series as Detroit took me to LA and I was free swinging out of the 9 spot and actually went 2-2 with Max Scherzer

Heh, I remember in my cubs season, Zambrano was a beast with the bat. I'm sure he could've hit a bomb maybe every two times out, but once I realized that I kept getting nothing but good pitches to hit, I started swinging contact only with him. He still hit a few out after that.
