Yes; when the game came out there were no check swings, no errors, and no injuries.

They added check swings in a patch. Which was good.

Errors and Injuries were not in the game due to a programming error, and they were unable to fix it via patch. Which was lame.

No restrictions on editing capabilities, to include the amount of players that can be edited. 2K flat out told us last year that there was no cap to the amount of players you could edit and that turned out to be false. They did extend the limit later, but the name on the backs of the jersey would not change.

Fix simulation stats... Especially for pitchers. The elite aces in the league should not be getting lit up constantly and posting 6+ ERA's for the entire season. I can see a couple of pitchers struggling, but there would be a lot of aces who would just get shelled.

        Fix progression/regression.

Fix the player portraits. Sorry, I want the right hats on a player, especially when some of the portraits being used are literally three or four years old. It's just unacceptable to me.

Yeah, 2K has a long way to go before I'll be giving them my money again. I hope they can get things going in the right direction this year. Last year was an improvement but the game still lacked a GREAT deal.
Great post here 100% agree with what your saying.
It has potential, but these minor thinks are setting it back bigtime.
I hit a line drive off a guy in the head, he stays fine and pitches 6 more innings, really 2k?

2K10 was my first baseball game. From what I've read, they have a history of bad fielding and baserunning. I really don't know what to expect. I think the show blows it out the water this year. I'm gonna try my damnest to get a PS3.

It definitely won't be a day one purchase for me. I'll wait and see what the verdict is on the game. I understand the difference a year could make, but year in and year out the same dismal experience has left me with little faith in the product.

I will do the same. With 2K's MLB games this is the best advice you can get.

With all of the bugs this game has been plagued with the last few years, it's best to NOT buy it day 1. That isnt to say people should not buy this game at all, but please be careful and read up on reviews and see if it's a bug-fest, see if they fixed injuries and errors, see the game still freezes, see if MyPlayer mode works. Then buy it if you are comfortable.

Read forums like this one before buying this game next year.

I will probably take it a step further, and wait for the first patch to come out. So for me I wont be buying this game at least untill a month after it comes out. I WILL NOT waste another $60 on their game without doing my homework first.

As a baseball lover who only owns a 360 (cant afford a PS3) I have no choice but to consider 2K11 if I want a baseball game.

It breaks my heart that I have not had a real-functioning baseball game since 2005.

MLB 2K10 would have been awesome if it wasnt riddled with bugs.

I have no confidence in their ability to bug test and/or fix their games. For whatever reason since 2K6 they have been unable/unwilling to put out a functioning bug free product.

Improve the game as others have said and....

make the mlb today feature so that you can play any prior game played from the actual season and not just the game that day. In short, make it like the feature that NBA Live '10 had.

Agreed, but I will be waiting a LOT longer than even people's first impressions on here.

You would swear it was a whole new game, only to have more than half go back on their word once they got in the meat and potatoes of the game, and even more than half of them not even come here anymore to even talk about the game.

I must say, OS player base let me down in their impressions big time. I will not make that mistake twice this time around. Sad that it has come to a wait and see approach for this game now, when I was at one time, the type to buy all baseball games on their release.

Re: The Only Way I Am Buying MLB2k11...

I find it humorous that some people think it is somehow a revelation that they are going to wait for impressions to buy the game. It ought to be followed up with, so you won't here from me for more than three months, when I check back in to see how the game is.

You would think that people that have a game they love so much that they allow it to define themselves on OS would not feel the need to comment on a game that they have hated year after year.

I mean, can we at least push the posts that are clearly nothing more than anticipation of being able to bash the game once again to Baseball (other) thread? Becasue it is tiring to have to wade through the predictable comments just to discuss the game with other people that are anticipating the game in the hopes they can play it, and not just pan it.

Ugh, I feel you man. I was one of the big "make them earn your money" proponents last year. I really thought I could hold out too. My son was born right around the release date and that kept me occupied, obviously - but as SOON as I got some free time to myself, I went out and bought the game... Thing was, if I remember correctly, the general consensus on last year's game was initially pretty positive (and, really, it still is). I had a decent time with the game and started edited rosters. I spent A LOT of time making as many prospects as I could and read multiple scouting reports - and then I ran into the dreaded editing cap, which... Well, without trying to be abrasive to 2K, I'll just say that I felt severely misled, if not outright lied to because there wasn't supposed to be a cap.

Then, the injuries and errors issue eventually got to me. They fixed the editing cap (sort of) but by then, I was pretty much done with the game.

I hope 2K gets this game going.

Well, just to clarify, I don't believe it was ever said there was no cap.
During a Q&A with the devs, someone asked about editing restrictions and the dev responded that they'd been lifted, but it was in reference to the fact that you couldn't edit certain things (a couple particular attributes and batting stances/pitching motions for example).

Anyway, I'm not saying that makes the cap issue not a problem (really, it's bordering on unacceptable in the current era of gaming...particularly when you look at how much you can do with their NBA series by comparison). Just saying that it seems to be misunderstanding more than any deception on 2K's part IMO.

Either way, the end result is the same, I suppose. Such things shouldn't be an issue. Hopefully, like you said, 2K gets it going. I hope the game play sees the same progress this year that presentation, etc saw the last couple years.

They did say directly in a Q&A podcast that there was no cap. However I don't understand the OP about camera angles. You could adjust the batting and pitching camera angles to anything you wanted. You could argue this was the most customizable baseball game ever in that regard.

So you don't think gamers should be able to ask specific questions about the game to people that bought the game? I might ask you or someone else if there's an editing cap this year, what's wrong with that?

It's not "anticipation to bash the game." People who only have a 360 are praying and hoping with all their might that 2K finally delivers a great product this year.

But really, what do you expect people to say? That they'll blindly run out and buy the game when so many issues have plagued this title in the past?

I can understand your frustration and not wanting to sift through posts to see what you want to see, but in all honesty and with all due respect, this is a monster that 2K has created.

No, it was said. I wish I still had the link, but in an interview, the question was asked if there was an editing cap on the number of players that you could edit, and it was answered with, "No, there's no cap this year." Unfortunately I can't provide a direct link but hopefully someone else can.

It was said, and the expectation was set, and it turned out to not be reality. A lot of people were mad, very little was given as far as explanation from 2K and an apology was never issued.
