Why I'm looking forward to MLB 2K11

This may surprise a lot of people, but I'm looking forward to MLB 2K11. Why? Because for me, it's something different. I've never played MLB since 2K3.

I spent the last 3 seasons playing MLB: The Show on the PS3, and it deserves all the praise that it gets - but I'm rather burnt out on it, and I've never played MLB (and by the sounds of things, maybe that's for the best).
But, I've since relegated my PS3 to being my Blu-ray player, and I got a 360 for gaming.

Another reason is NBA 2K11. Now, I'm not expecting that quality, but if MLB can even be in the ballpark (pun intended), that would be great. I also love the MLBN Today integration, as well as the commentary from the ESPN guys.

And finally, The Show isn't perfect. It's incredible, but it takes way too long to play game, and the animations and overall presentation haven't changed from year to year. As I said, I'm getting tired of it.

Is anyone else looking forward to MLB 2K11, and if so, why?

Re: Why I'm looking forward to MLB 2K11

It's not really that surprising. There are plenty of people who not only find 2K baseball to be enjoyable, but actually prefer it...and not just because it's different, but because they simply get more enjoyment from it. Above all a game should be fun for someone, so if some people have more fun with 2K, then there's no reason they should feel obligated to worry about what the other game does.

I'm looking forward to trying it. While I personally prefer the other game, there are aspects of 2K baseball that I've enjoyed (namely pitching controls, stat depth, and commentary). 2K10 took some steps forward and if 2K11 can simply throw a nice coat of polish on that, then it should certainly be a good option for a lot of people. I say it every year, but the more good baseball, the better IMO.

I've been playing my 2K10 franchise the past couple weeks to satisfy my offseason baseball itch, and quite frankly I am having a blast. The game is far from perfect, season stats aren't exactly where they should be, and the gameplay is still a little funky, but I really think 2K10 is an above average game that has kept me coming back for more. I can't wait for 2K11 to be released.

        - Your sentiments are shared. I like the change of pace that this game gives sometimes. It is a geniunely fun game to play if you are able to overlook certain things.

I think both games will be a good step up this year. And both are different so it's a nice change of pace as they have different feels and features. I'm looking forward to playing both demos - just hope they come out BEFORE the games this year.

only thing i didnt like last year was no errors or injuries.
LOVEEEEE the presentation and franchise menus.

I'm looking forward to it as well. 2K10 was a good turnaround for the series, even though it had a few problems. I really hope they focus on the right areas because 2K11 could be a pretty solid game if they do.

I'm looking forward to it as well. 2k10 is fun and although I do own and play the show (and will buy '11 day one) I can't get enough baseball. I remember back in '04? when mvp, allstar, espn, and high heat were all available and it was great!

I absolultly loved 2k10. I played at least 200 full games. The injuries and no errors issues were overshadowed by the best pitcher/batter gameplay ever. I was addicted to playing on all star while batting. I loved working counts to my favor to actually draw walks or get the big hit. It was so easy to strike out that every at bat was battle and was very rewarding if you could get a big inning.

I will get 2k11 for sure. It doesnt need an overall, just a bit of polish like others have said.

Its funny that this post was started by someone who has never played the game! lol
With that being said I have to look forward to this game as I do not own a PS3 and I love baseball. I can tell you my best friend has a PS3 and I am blown away everytime I play the Show at his house.

Agreed. I had fun with 2K10 and hope that 2K was able to build on that foundation for 2K11.

My personal hopes and what im looking forward to is My Player Mode. I had a good time with it in 2k10, I just hope there is real free agency oh and camera angles saved when adjusted.

Also they teased us by having create a team and not being able to use it in season or franchise, Bone head move. to the OP, 2k ball games I found take longer to finish than The Show.

I cannot wait for this game either. MLB 2K10 was good but it had its flaws, but now after seeing and playing NBA 2K11... I am interested.

Yeah, I definitely had some fun playing 2k10 but if they don't fix some of the big problems (injuries, errors, fielding) I'm gonna have a hard time justifying getting it. I mean I was able to play about 130 or more games in about two months. If they are able to incorporate injuries and errors, the game would keep me invested for multiple seasons most likely. I'm defintiely hoping for this game to take the next step, because I'd love to have a good baseball game to play. Especially since I'd really love to play with this years Cubs and Athletics teams.
