Will PS3 version get a nice online crowd and same patch support?

I like the PS3 demo slightly better because of the brightness and controller (I like the PS3 one). However, I was concerned that most PS3 owners will be playing the show and it will be hard to find online players. Does this sound true?

Also I have read some complaining about a lack of PS3 patch support in the past. Is this true and will it be true this year as well?

    Thanks.

How was the online play in 2k last year? I'm actually thinking about buying this game because the demo is really growing on me. If the online play is lag free (not holding my breath) and there is a community of PS3ers out there playing it, I will definately buy. I didn't buy 2k last year and I heard the online really sucked...that's why I'm cautious.

Thanks. I had read that, but was more curious about how things will go as the season goes on.

This is my big concern. How does 2K do with the PS Network? ..and...will there be a fair amount of people playing it online for the PS3?

People can say that past MLB 2K games have run well on the network or that the developer seems to have a lot of issues dealing with the PSN code. I am looking for feedback not fortune telling. Why did you even bother to post this?

Baseball game don't play well online. MLB 2K9 was the only game I ever played that was actually worth the effort. But from all reports, PSN was not a good place to play any baseball games online. But even 2K has hard time actually getting it playable on XBL.

the problem is, the lag kills you in two ways. One, you have to commit to swing too early, often before the ball leaves the pitcher's hand. This destroys the most integral part of playing baseball, as hitting and pitching becomes nothing more than rock, paper, scissors.

Then, there are the ways that lag affect you in the field. As you make one step wrong in the OF, the lag keeps you from correcting and getting to the ball and you have a string of triples and inside the park homeruns.

MLB 2K10 was still solid in the field, but the lag was off in hitter/pitcher match-up. But again, that was XBL only. PSN is a slower service, so there are always more issues.

I would not try to play any baseball game online on the PS3. But I seriously doubt that even 2K11 will be playable, even on XBL. I don't think the ways they have improved the game are going to translate in efficient netcode.

But more than that, I don't think, no matter how much improved 2K11 is, that it will sell well on the PS3. So I doubt there will be much of an online presence, at all.

If i had both a PS3 and XBOX there is no choice, i would get the xbox version, i'm guessing there will be tons more playing this game online with that system.

By the way i have PYS and have played it online a few times and it plays fine to me. YOur pitches when pitching seem to go slower than when playing offline but when hitting everything was just like offline and that was playing against people mostly in Japan.

Saying baseball games don't play well online is a cop out, and its also not true. MVP 05 was amazing online. I'm hopeful I'll be able to get some lag-free games of mlb2k11.

I just can't agree. First, the amount of information being pushed through the pipes has increased substantially. But if you go back to the forums at the time, people were complaining left and right about the lag.

MVP 05 was a great game, but it is also subjected to some rose colored lenses when people refer to how perfect it was. There disconnects, laggy play, and even then Xbox Live was the preferred mode, as online play on the PS2 was not good at all.

I think there is a chance that 2K11 might be good over XBL. The odds of it being playable on PSN are slim and none. Even the other game has not produced decent results for online play.

Baseball is just a tough nut to crack.

MVP05 was phenomenal online for the PC. Not a spot of lag, and felt just like an offline game, it performed so perfectly.

                        Consoles are another story.

That could be. I had pretty much gave up on PC gaming by then. If I wanted compelling multiplayer baseball, it was BBPro or a text sim.
