    What the he**?
Why do we put up with it?
You know theyre able to put out a quality product!
But every year we go out and spend $60 on a piece of junk game that looks and almost plays like its worth $15.
I think some of you guys are too soft on 2K.
Just because you aren't that happy with the game doesn't mean everyone feels this game is a "piece of junk". I enjoy playing this game and I feel it was worth the $60 I spent. Is it perfect or bug free? No but it plays very well with slider adjustments. I will agree that some of these bugs are ridiculous (like fatigue in franchise).

The bottom line when judging a game is how much fun you have with it and quite a few of us are enjoying this game a lot. There are others that are disappointed and that's fine too but please don't assume that the everyone is "settling" for a mediocre game.

      I understand what youre saying.
Im playing the game on and off.
I just feel like this isnt something that should be rushed out. Like you said there are bugs!
No game is perfect and every game has its share of bugs but these inexcusable for a next gen title. These are the types of bug and glitches that you'd expect from a low key development company with no track record. Theyve put out great games before. But the last few years when its come to baseball
they say "here you go guys, enjoy it" and we're like" ok "
I understand people are having fun it, and I find myself going back and playing a few innings as often as I can, but a lot of people are saying, "waiting for this patch, and waiting for this to be fixed"
It SHOULD play well out of the box. Its holding players back from starting their seasons becuase the game is broken and needs fixing! what is that? Patches are essential now a days but mostly low key ones to fix bugs that will enhance the experience, not something thats totally holding the game back.
      NO excuse 2K.
Because well, what else are we going to play?
I think for $60 we deserve more.

Seriously, this is no longer an impression, but just some rant against bugs. The fact that you bought this game on day one, or later, once impressions started, signified you could accept bugs. There was never any rose-colored glasses about this game or series. The series has a history of problems. the demo highlighted that this game may very well have problems.

The easy solution is to have some freaking patience and see what other people have to say. You could have easily saved your $60.

Between here and an another forum a participate in, I have detailed issues that game has. I bought the game on day one, and have personally enjoyed my time with it in spite of the issues. But I've also taken the time to reveal them to folks that are reading about them. The idea that anyone is giving 2K a pass is ridiculous.

You posts have have gotten closer and closer to just being rants on the devs rather than impressions of the game that others can use. Since it seems that 2011 is the year no one made a baseball game you like, maybe the Baseball (other) forum is a good place to take out your frustrations.

The batter / pitcher matchups in this game cannot be beat. Hitting and pitching is solid and fun. Fatigue issues in franchise can and will be fixed soon. Very good package overall since franchise mode in The Show is completely broken currently. Cheers to 2K for a solid year of baseball

I was pretty negative about this game at first but as I get better and I find sliders I'm happy with I'm actually starting to really get into it.

Is fatigue also broken if you do a post season?

              Unfortunately, yes.

But yeah, I've found some sliders that have made this game just a blast to play.

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread

Had a very interesting game last night. Play an MLB Today game V O's. I'm basically getting no hit going into the 7th. Losing 6-0 & all of a sudden I explode for 6 runs to tie the game. The tying hit being a 2 run BOMB from the man in my avatar (The no doubter camera comes into effect)

Score 2 more in the 8th to take the lead. Bring-in Mariano for the 9th. He gives up a 1 out walk. I'm nervous as heck. I then proceed to SO the next 2 batters.

Game Over Yanks win 8-6. Fist Pumps ensue.

I actually did post in that other thread, but nonetheles, I gave my 2 cents.
Thought this was where I could voice my opinion, if only here.
I dont want to start anything with anyone here and be banned from this great site. I know there are those who agree with me and those who disagree.
To each his own. NO more.

                  As far as my impressions;
1.Love the pitching interface. Unmatched anywhere else.

                  2. Love the overall presentation of this game: the commentary, overlays, camera cuts, crowd noise, overall menus, stats, and total user interface off the field.

                  3. Dont like hitting interface. Not as responsive as I'd like.

                  4. Fielding is hit and miss. I like playing the outfield but dont feel the same about the infield.

                  5. Feel like there should be more fielding cameras, and dont care too much for the fielding camera when up at bat.

                  6. Bugs and glitches are a no no. Ive experienced the homerun bug, player fatigue, and its frozen on me 3 times.

                  7. Graphically pretty horrible in most areas but some bright spots in others.
One area 2K does right (with 1 exception) is lighting. Their lighting is really good. Day games are nice and bright while night dont look fake and plastic.
The exception is, and this is something 2K has done in the past, when its a day game and its overcast, why are the players lit up like its a bright and sunny day?

Overall it that extra something for me to have longevity.
I'll probably just play MLB today all season long.
Not a bad game, but in need of major improvement.

This game is officially going on the shelf for me. It's near impossible to make it through a game without some sort of issue, large or small, that takes the wind out of the sails.

If you're wondering about specifics just read the bug/glitch thread.

We'll see what the patch does. I'm holding out hope, because I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that a patch brings this game back to life.

If you're on the fence as to whether or not to get this game, my advice is to wait and see what the patch does.
                    All ties severed...

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread

I'm enjoying the game and the advantages outweigh the disadvantages. However, Queens has a point. It's just sloppy to put out a game with so many bugs & glitches. 2K needs to take a little pride in their work and they should've delayed the game a few weeks. I mean how much can really be fixed in a patch? Don't they have big memory limitations?

They shipped an obviously unfinished game, there's no way some of this stuff slipped by testers. So it was like "Heck with it, we'll just patch it later." I dont mind patches, but aren't they supposed to fix minor issues that weren't caught in normal testing? Major bugs are just unacceptable.

During the million dollar challenge what if you have a perfect game going in the 9th but it freezes? You're going to call an attorney, and if that doesn't work you'll post the video up on Youtube for all to see. It will get millions of viewers, nationwide media coverage and 2K will look stupid and have egg on their face.

This game is the best ever in some areas but the most ugly in others. Again, I'm a fan and it's a keeper but am just frustrated.

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread

It's definitely unfinished. But this is pretty much par for the course for sports games.

Where you see sloppiness and lack of pride, I see a ton of work and innovation that upgraded the game far more than I assumed they would for this released. Their reach was longer than their grasp, but I love what they have done.

The fatigue bug in franchise play is really starting to bum me out. but it is becasue I am really starting to see appreciate just how awesome the entire fatigue system is. When you couple that will having to maintain a fresh and healthy team, I think it will be a fantastic strategic mode of play. Even more so when I look at just how well the game sims. It is easily the most realistic set of stats I've seen outside of text sims.

But since I've been buying sports games for decades, I already know the drill. Play the game and get used to the new toys while they finish up stuff that should have been done for the release. Download the patch and hope that is fixes what it should.

Heck, I would not even start a real season until well after opening day, since I'd like to get the new players in first. For now, I'm really loving the game, and just can't take the time to be upset because this game needs a patch. I might as well get mad becasue it's is going to drop to 40 degrees tomorrow after some beautiful sunny and 70+ days.

I'm having a ton of fun, but now I'm just frustrated because I had another lockup in a great game. It's maddening when you are playing a game into the 9th inning which takes 90 minutes and a shot to right field and the game just locks up. Working a full time job with a family you don't have a ton of gaming time so when you're relaxing and into a game it's like a punch to the gut.

                          Very disappointing.

Can you comment on the sim fatigue? Last year a DH would get fatigued as much or more than the position players when it should be considered more of a 1/2 day off. Pinch hitters used to get a full day of energy lost even if they only pinch hit for one at bat and never even took the field. Have these things been corrected in the sim engine?

P.S. I've never had a freeze on my PS3 game. (knock on wood)

Yeah, that is a tough one. Are the freezes mostly a 360 issue? I remember going through this with a few games like ASB 05 and NCAA BB 10 and it really wares on you after a few times.

I hope it is something that can be addressed via patch.
