MLB 2k11 classic batting control = no power?

Okay, with total control it feels to awkward and somewhat easy, with classic batting I get almost no power with great hitters. No matter how good I time it or anything. What's the best way to get power with classic controls?

I hit out back to back HRs with Crawford and Gonzo so time it better I guess? Should check the training/batting practice to be sure though. Didn't hit any in the Giants/Braves game but not that I should've.

In one game, I hit two homers with classic controls. Both times I used the left stick to pull the ball and that seems to work great, plus it felt realistic. So with a right handed hitter, as you tap the button to hit, push the left stick to the left side (but don't push up, just left). Note that this will only work well for pitches inside or in the middle of the plate. Trying to pull an outside pitch is not a very good idea.

I hit 2 homers with Lyle Overbay and a couple of other shots up against the wall, so I saw no evidence of problems with power in classic hitting.

I was doing that today, I was anticipating the inside pitch, but only using left or right. Pujols got an outside fastball and I pushed the left stick to the right and big hr. It's a great alternative. I thought holding up would be the trick but, that's for sac flies mostly.

Right on. Yeah, try to stay away from pushing up unless you're going for a sac fly. I like that they made it more directional and more about going with the pitch. In 2K9, basically all you had to do was push the left stick up and the majority of the time you'd knock it out of the park, so this is much more realistic and rewarding.

Jeffy, are you pushing directly right and left then with the left thumbstick? I had a bunch of HRs in the demo, but none yet in my 3 games with the Dodgers. I realize I'm at Dodger Stadium and that we don't have huge bats, but still...

I had 7 hr's last night against the Indians using the Cubs on All Star. I never push up, I just use the stick left or right. Aram had 3, Sori had 2, then Pena with 1 and Colvin also had 1....and it was all on classic hitting, default sliders at the All Star level.

I have also hit some HRs using the classic hitting as well. So there doesn't seem to be a lack of power.

Thanks. I'll give that a shot! It sounds like you need to bump your difficulty up though. That's insane. Who was pitching for the Indians? I'm curious how much your numbers would change if you omitted the left stick usage completely.

No problem, and I can't really say how much different it would feel. I used the left stick all of last year on both PC and the 360 version. It has always felt more natural to move the stick along with pressing the button, as opposed to just pressing a button.

Yep......I will say it was probably luck, as that hasn't been typical. Keep up the good fight, as the power is there.

Happened to me as well. Either it's that or get no-hit. No in between with the Show 11.

Is the consensus then that using left stick to one side is crucial for getting home runs? I know you can get homers with just the button, but seems like you need the left stick for better probability.
