MLB 2k11 classic batting control = no power?
Okay, with total control it feels to awkward and somewhat easy, with classic batting I get almost no power with great hitters. No matter how good I time it or anything. What's the best way to get power with classic controls?Tags: None -

In one game, I hit two homers with classic controls. Both times I used the left stick to pull the ball and that seems to work great, plus it felt realistic. So with a right handed hitter, as you tap the button to hit, push the left stick to the left side (but don't push up, just left). Note that this will only work well for pitches inside or in the middle of the plate. Trying to pull an outside pitch is not a very good idea.Comment

I was doing that today, I was anticipating the inside pitch, but only using left or right. Pujols got an outside fastball and I pushed the left stick to the right and big hr. It's a great alternative. I thought holding up would be the trick but, that's for sac flies mostly.Comment

Right on. Yeah, try to stay away from pushing up unless you're going for a sac fly. I like that they made it more directional and more about going with the pitch. In 2K9, basically all you had to do was push the left stick up and the majority of the time you'd knock it out of the park, so this is much more realistic and rewarding.Comment

I had 7 hr's last night against the Indians using the Cubs on All Star. I never push up, I just use the stick left or right. Aram had 3, Sori had 2, then Pena with 1 and Colvin also had 1....and it was all on classic hitting, default sliders at the All Star level.Twitch - bluengold34_osComment

I have also hit some HRs using the classic hitting as well. So there doesn't seem to be a lack of power.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Yep......I will say it was probably luck, as that hasn't been typical. Keep up the good fight, as the power is there.Last edited by bluengold34_OS; 03-09-2011, 02:53 PM.Twitch - bluengold34_osComment
