I switched to button swinging and the hit results seem far more realistic. All those scorching lineouts to the infielders have vanished -- seeing many more ground balls now, as it should be. And I haven't hit a HR either yet, but that's good IMO. Have you bumped up the sliders? That's the obvious thing to check first.

Mod Update: Yankee Stadium ads updated over at mvpmods.

Here are some ad updates for the MLB 2k11 Yankee Stadium. Ads used for this stadium were created by keithj in his great work from the 2K10 stadium. I merely placed the ads via the editor. *Just copy the .iff stadium file into your main MLB 2k11 install directory. Enjoy!!

        Hi,

        System requirements show:

Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHz (3 GHz Recommended)

        I am running a

        Pentium Dual Core 820 2.8ghz

Should I expect decent performance with the game. Any reason to be hesitant in purchasing?

        Many Thanks

What video card do you have? That is very important.

A old one. I am in the process of upgrading that.

It looks like my bottleneck for the video card will be a 300W power supply, so I am looking at picking up something with 512mb that will support the shadow requirements.

            Should be ok?

It really depends on the model of the card. The amount of video ram isn't the most important spec. A card can have 1GB and still not be very good.

I just may pick this up. I love the available mods to make it more realistic, something that cannot be done on consoles.

                  For $30 bucks, I feel I can't go wrong.....

You're right, you can't really go wrong for that price. I'm sitting on the fence with this game, but I still feel it's an okay game... for 30 bucks. Now, if I bought the 360 version and paid 60 for it, I'd be a bit disgusted about now.

And you're right about mods -- I just installed the new Yankee stadium update and it looks fantastic.

Any suggestions on what I should be looking for spec-wise?

Basically, start with the model number because older cards can have similar specs in terms of core clocks and ram but not be as good simply because the newer architecture performs better.

For nvidia, I wouldnt get anything older than an 9800GT.....but for that price you could almost get an ATI 5770 which is a pretty nice card.

You're going to be quite limited with a 300w power supply though.....

Got the game yesterday. Had some interesting variety in my games - lost 6-0 (Tribe v. Blue Jays), then beat the Pirates with the Cubs 15-2. I'd say the game plays pretty good on default, but I'm sure I'll tinker with some of the sliders.
I'd say the hitting is the biggest improvement. Saw several types of hits that I never saw in 2k10 and feel that the whole system is more rewarding. Fielding is better, but still not in the class of MVP 04-05. I'm happy with the way pitching has been made more difficult - it was way too easy to throw strikes last year. I'll say it was probably worth the $20 for the upgrade from 2k10.
