How it got in seems simple. They fixed something that messed it up on the first patch. they simmed seasons to test it, but missed catching it in live games.
The problem with even playing partial games is that it resets everyone that plays every time you play. so eve if the game you play is cool, the next game you sim will have a team that is just over-powered. Maybe if you play one in every 10 games or so, it would have less of an effect. And the games you play would all be legit.
But it sucks that when you play the game, you are essentially giving everyone the ultimate rest. There is no reason not to blow through you bullpen.
And really, it's managing my pitchers over the course of a season that has me the most excited to play. It is easily the most important patch I want to see.
