How do you throw a pitchout? How do you steal properly?

    Two simple questions:

    1. I know R3 is an intentional walk, but how do you throw a pitchout using classic pitching? Do you have to do it manually or something???

    2. Is there some trick to stealing bases? There's always a delay by the runner and he can never get a good jump. Even when I release the button with perfect timing with a good base runner he will hesitate before taking off, and usually get thrown out. This delay doesn't occur when playing in drill mode, only during a regular game.

given the fact that i play in xbox and PC, i'll try and help you out.

first, for the pitch out. you have to choose your pitch and press the Square button (the same position as the Y in SNES, and blue in the 360 controller)

for example, when you get to the pitching selection, you press the X button for a fastball, instead of doing the right stick thingie, you press Square, and it will pitch out.

    (hope im clear enough)

    Second, for stealing bases:

you have to take three steps out of the bag, im supposing it should be L2, you press it 3 times, if you press it more than 3, the pitcher will throw to first and you'll be out.

so you press, L2 and L2 aaannd L2 an hold it, till the controller vibrates, dont let go L@ until the pitcher starts making the pitching motion, then let go and pray to budda.

that's the only way you can steal bases in this game.

    BTW.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I wasn't getting a big enough lead on steals. I think it's gotta be at least a three step lead.

As for the pitchouts, I figured out that with classic pitching you have to hold down (direction, not R3) on the right stick. It takes a second, but eventually it will pitchout.

Each press of the advance button will take you a step off the bag, up to four steps while on first (only two for second base I think). And when you want to steal you have to hold down the advance button, then release when you want the runner to go. If the pitcher tries to pick you off quickly press the go back button as soon as the camera angle changes.

same procedure, take a three step leap. (pres LT 3 times, but when you press the third time, keep holding the button until it vibrates, when the pitcher starts moving, let go!, and pray to budda)

            for example:

you press: LT (first step) LT (second step) LT and hold it (third step, and the ontroller will vibrate, letting you know that your dinner's ready) when the pitcher starts making the pitching motion, LET GO!!! and hold breath.

            hope it works for you.

Re: How do you throw a pitchout? How do you steal properly?

                Hi guys.
I play on PC, Franchise mode. Haven't played many games though.

The problem is I never get picked off. I always take max lead (4 steps) and the AI pitcher never tries to pick me off. Not even a camera angle change. Most of the times (8/10) i get the steal after a 4 step lead, even with players with 70+ speed.

Any of these ever happened to you?

If you hold down on the right stick, that is an intentional walk.

The direction down, not press down on R3. You have to hold the direction down, like you are throwing to home plate, and hold it for a split second because it won't do it right away.

You mentioned the right stick before, so it's just move the left stick down and no right stick?

It's way too easy to steal bases in this game with mediocre speed players. If you are taking a 4 stride lead and the pitcher doesn't try to pick you off then that alone is unrealistic.

Also the fact that the camera angle changes and sits there for like 5 SECONDS before the pitcher tries to pick you off is completely ridiculous. It's almost impossible to get picked off that way when you know when the pitcher is going to try it. Not only that but the game gives you an entire 5 seconds before he even tries.

Not sure who's genius idea this was, but it needs to be changed.

Hold down on the right stick, like you were using the analog stick method to throw to home plate.

I agree that stealing can be too easy. I stole a base with Edwin Encarnacion and then Adam Lind when I was playing against the Athletics. It may have been the pitcher I was facing having a slow pitching motion, though.
