The point here is I did not tell my second basemen to throw to home--he did it on his own. Since there is no auto fielding or auto throwing, this doesn't make sense to me.

What kind of auto throwing is this?
I'm not sure if this is a bug, glitch, or a cheat: Two outs with runners on first and third and CPU at the plate. CPU batter hits a ground ball to my second basemen and I move him with left stick to catch the grounder. He gets it and immediately fires home without giving me a chance to press the B button for first base with an easy out. So, the runner from third scores and the runner going to first is safe--and the CPU makes a comeback. I won the game, but that is not the point.

Send him to the minors, because that's bush league. All ties severed... -
Re: What kind of auto throwing is this?
Dustin Pedroia is not bush league. I've seen this happen quite a few times playing Play Now. There have been times where my fielder throws the ball without giving me a chance to press the throw button. Every time it happens is in favor of the CPU. And I don't touch the right stick when fielding or throwing, I always use left stick and buttons to throw.
I play on Xbox 360.Comment

Re: What kind of auto throwing is this?
I am pretty sure he threw home before I pressed any button. I wait for the fielder to get the ball before I press a button. Would it be better if I held down the button before he gets to the ball?Comment

On a side note, I have found the left stick to do unexpected things, such as bring home a runner from third on a sacrifice fly.Comment

Ah, that's what I was thinking of trying. I just hope that doesn't create wild throws. Anyway, I'll give that a try and see what happens. However, it can depend on the situation. If you have a runner on first and may have a chance for a double play, then preloaded to first may not be a good idea, and may not be a good idea preloaded to second as well.

Couple of times, I've had a ball hit to the SS, pre-loaded my throw to 2B to turn the DP. SS bobbles the ball, I see I have no play at 2B... once the SS recovers, he throws to 2B anyway.
On the Left-stick issue... Haven't seen anything like that on my end.Last edited by RGmoney; 03-14-2011, 01:03 PM.Comment

Yeah, u need situational awareness when pre-loading. lol... Hopefully next year they will implement a fake/cancel throw option. Case in point:

No, I flicked the analog-stick to 1st, but the pre-loaded throw went on to 2B. In situations like that, I might try the buttons. Might make a difference... not sure.Comment

Possible that the A button was just stuck down a little bit? Buttons do get stuck on controllers sometimes.Comment

Re: What kind of auto throwing is this?
Well, I have a few things to report. I tried the infield drill and when it said to cover second and throw, I moved the left stick thinking that would move the infielder but he threw the ball! The left stick did not move the player, the left stick threw the ball.
Next we have what just happened in the game I played. I pressed the Y button to throw to second and I looked at where my finger was and the throw went to third. Now, I am absolutely positive I pressed Y to throw to second and the player threw to third!
Another play was similar in that again, I looked at where my finger was on the button and player threw to wrong base. I don't know if this makes any difference, but I'm playing on Play Now since I don't want to start a franchise until bugs get ironed out.
These throws to wrong base do not always occur, seems random, but I know I selected the correct base for those throws I mentioned above.Comment

Try a different controller. It sounds like buttons sticking or a stick that is off-center.Comment
