I am having more trouble than usual getting hits or any power hits in this game. Any tips?

Take the first pitch, then try to get up in the count. Ive found out that you have a better chance at hitting a ball on the corners when your ahead in the count, opposed to swinging at the first pitch even if its right down the middle. Especially against a better pitcher. Try taking it the other way, or bunting for a hit. Anything to switch it up. What difficulty are you using? What team and are using classic or swing stick.

I am on Pro with a franchise with ATL and SF. using analog right now. I like the Analog because of the reality

If your having contact or timing trouble, use classic. I do and get realistic stats and results. If your having trouble determining balls and strikes, then try making your 'hitting zone' even smaller in your mind. Only swing if you know its going to be over the plate. Take three strikes in a row if they are not in the place you want them. The only trouble I have is on big curves that break low out of the strike zone. I usually score 8-14 runs on All Star with my Reds. Trying to get realistic sliders going on right now. Do the things I've mentioned and you'll get better.

        Ive always used classic batting.

Cool, let me know the realistic sliders whenever u get them. I want to make it as realistic as i can. Dont want to drub every team, makes the game boring

Look for pitches you can drive early on in the count, pitches out over the plate, and don't swing at a pitcher's pitch. In other words, if a pitcher hits his spot and paints the corner of the plate, let it go and give the pitcher some credit for making a good pitch.

Then when you get two strikes on you, expand your zone and be a little more defensive, using contact swing instead of power swing.

            That's pretty much hitting 101.

I will reiterate what was said above, you have to be patient at the plate. Work the count into your favor and get a pitch you can drive. Basic baseball right there.

I have been patient but have a lot of pop ups and foul outs to the catcher/3B

Then its your timing. Try classic. Its easier to time IMO.

                    Re: having trouble getting hits

                    1) Like the others have said, use classic batting. The analog gets confusing sometimes because you're trying to make contact with the RS while aiming your swing with the LS. With classic batting you only have to worry about aiming with the LS and pressing the button to swing.

                    2) Try out the camera angle from behind the pitcher. I tried it and love it! You are able to see the ball better as well as where the catcher is lining up at. If they are lining up on the outside of the plate then either the pitcher is gonna try and paint the corner or it's gonna be a ball. You're able to draw walks more and get good contact.

                    1) Before I switched, I had a perfect game thrown against me. I didn't score any runs at all and only had about 3 hits total. But once I changed camera views to start the season, I am 1-1. The first game Strasburg pitched a shutout and I lost 8-0. The second game I won 3-2 in extra innings. Heyward went 4-5 with a 2 run shot. Try and see.

When batting : Try Batter 2 view, 4 zoom, 6 height and pitching zoom on , this really helped me alot, just a suggestion.

                        Re: having trouble getting hits

i thought the L-stick was used to influence direction, not really aim??

i do miss cursor aiming batting, but i'm getting the hang of 2K's style.
couldn't a cursor using the L-stick + R swing stick work? too complicated?
instead of L-stick used to influence direction, can't u use the R-stick to swing up a bit left or right?

first time ever using analog hitting, was frustrating at first, but once u get the hang of it, it really is fun.
doing a successful check-swing is strangely satisfying.

i did learn that u can't power swing all the time, especially with slap hitters. ends up mostly becoming easy pop ups to the OF.
i even tried power swinging while holding the L-stick down. still mostly pop-ups.
now i mostly normal swings with guys with no power, and it's working out well.

at first at AI pitch speed 75, it felt the ball was too slow. i kept swinging early even on 95+ mph fast balls. of course, Phillips and Kruk kept berating me how i can swing so early on FBs. haha.
i had to mentally force myself to slow down and wait more. now i'm more often swinging late on FBs and swing early on changeups/breaking balls. good stuff.

strangely though, my pitchers have been hitting almost .400 LOL. i get at least 1 single using my pitchers per game as well as an RBI or two. and i'm using BIGFNJOE96 + Blazzen's sliders.

                          Re: having trouble getting hits

                          a few questions:

                          1. is the LS really worth using? i never get it right, i doesn't seem to do anything for me. If i hold it to the right, i hit to the left, or center, or right. The same with other directions.
Am i supposed to to something different?

                          2. I'm having reallt big trouble hitting with total control batting on Legend. Works fine in AllStar. Should i swich to classic control hitting?

                          3. In classic control, i know how to contact swing. But how do i check swing? How do i power swing? or defense swing?

There is only one swing button with classic. The power swing/button was removed a couple years back unfortunately. So no power swing and no defensive swing with classic. And check swing is totally screwed up. It's not pressure sensitive like The Show for example. Believe it or not, you have to press the swing button twice to check the swing. I've gone into practice mode to try this, and you literally have to decide to check your swing before the pitcher even throws the pitch, in order to be able to push the button twice in a row that quickly. It's completely useless.

As for aiming L, R etc., with the L stick, I'm still testing that out myself. I don't much difference in my hits between my aiming or not aiming. Not sure what to make of that yet.

You can check swing with the analog but its hard to do, I did it yesterday once on a 2-2 count ( only time in the game ) I thought I was going to get a called third strike as it was out of the strike zone then the next pitch I hit for a solo HR with Prince Fielder using the power swing and I have hit HR's with the contact swing as well. I tried the classic button hitting but cant get used to it as I used the analog swing on 2K10 , I like the control of the hitting better with the analog JMO, I never use the LS except for bunting.
