    Player Progression

I was wondering if anyone had gotten through a season or maybe 2 and could talk about player progression. I read conflicting reports on it being revamped and that your performance heavily influences a players progression. As well as read reports that it's still essentially random, and even with amazing statistical performances in a year, a player might only improve a few points as opposed to a "break-through" type year with a larger improvement?

    Just curious.

    Thanks

For me, generally when players have a good year they progress or regress with a bad season, unless they are past their prime age, then they slowly regress until they retire. Also, players who are in their "prime age" progress much more than players who are above or below and can usually progress even with a bad season.

Will some players consistently outperform their ratings? Can a 70 play better than an 80 over a period of time or will the cpu never do that?

Players age, their potential and performance decide progression. Although you can easily have a 70 rated player play as a 90 through hot streaks. Actual year end progression though? Im actually in game four of a sweep against the Yankees in the WS. I'll post my progressions after I go into the off season momentarily. Throughout the year players can progress or regress a little as well. Chapman went up a point when I had him start during pitching injuries and Cueto dropped a point when put as a long reliever after struggling. Not to mention the hot and cold streaks, where Carlos Santana, who I traded for, went from an 81 to a 97 for two weeks during August. Or Stubbs, who went from an 84 to a 93 after going on a fourteen game hit streak and stealing 16 bases in the same time.

Just swept the Yanks, here's the progressions:

Joey Votto went from a 95 to a 96, mostly got more power. Hit 39 big ones with 121 RBI batting 3125.

Jay Bruce Huge year, 84 to a 90. huge boost in contact and power, hitting 301. with 37 homers and over a hundred RBIs.

          B. Phillips Had a good year batting 284. with 32 home runs and lead the NL in runs scored. Went from an 86 to an 88.

Carlos Santana I traded for Santana during spring training of 2011 and he did not disappoint. Hitting 301. while playing in 130 games with 17 HR and over 80 RBIs. He was also rated one of the top 10 defence. going from and 81 to an impressive 87.

Scotty Rolen had a great year, actually his best, winning the NL MVP hitting over 330, with 110+ RBIs. He had no change, since hes old.

Drew Stubbs Another great year for a player in my 2011 season. Getting into the 30-40 club with 32 Home Runs and 40 steals, with an 80% success rate. He went from an 84 to an 86.

Jonny Gomes had a decent year raising up from a 79 to an 82. He'll platoon with the young Heisey at LF.

Chris Heisey Only playing in 36 games, he managed to jump from a 75 to a 81. Hell try to win a full time spot in Spring Training.

Elvis Andrus A trade I made during the same time as the Santana trade. Elvis struggled at the plate hitting only 239. although he had 20 SB, he fell from an 81 to 79. He may get traded if I can get a better SS, although hes still young.

Joakim Soria Yet another trade I made about a month before the trade deadline. In his time with me he had 39 saves, out of 44 chances. With a respectable 1.50 ERA. He raised from a 97 to a 90

Aroldis Chapman A-Rold started as a setup man to Soria until injuries forced him into a starting spot. Going 10-3 with a 1.98 ERA, Chap raised from an 83 to an 86. Now vying for the Ace position in the lineup.
