CPU substitute a pitcher throwing a perfect game!
Peavy was throwing a PERFECT GAME on me, 8th inning 1 down, only 5 outs left to get it, score is 3-0, but the CPU decided to substitute Peavy!!! The announcers even mention that Peavy should feel really bad about the substitution and so on, but hold on, it doesn’t end there yet, finally I was able to get a base hit on the 9th and Kruk praise the pitcher saying that it doesn’t matter that he will not get the perfect game that it was a great performance anyway LOL! after facing only 2 batters LOL!

Like I said though, I don't think you can defend that move - there should be a flag or something for a pitcher tossing a no-hitter or perfect game to be left in unless the outcome of the game is being threatened. -

I'm not going to try to defend this (it's pretty much undefendable under any circumstance) but I am curious as to what Peavy's pitch count was. I ask because the AI likes to stick to those PCap numbers on the pause screen, and some of those seem to be quite a bit less than the pitcher throws in real life. In other words, if Peavy was reaching the upper limits of the PCap, it might have though it was time to pull him no matter what the circumstances.

Since you're not 100% sure, I'm guessing his pitch count was higher than that, and the CPU yanked him for that reason. That, or Peavy has mid-range stamina and he was registering as fatigued.
Whatever, no excuse for it, for sure. But here's the thing: the CPU throws a lot of pitches that miss the plate, and which often miss the plate by a ton. I'm real happy with the game from that perspective. Love the fact that you can easily draw walks with a half-decent eye. The CPU getting yanked like that in 2K11 is a result of fatigue, caused by the fact that you're actually able to tell balls from strikes, and therefore run up the pitch count. Considering how good the pitching and hitting is in the game, I can forgive poor A.I. management in that situation.Last edited by peigone; 03-20-2011, 07:18 PM.Comment
