    sinkerballers - not enough groundballs?

I'm playing a fantasy franchise and i've got a bunch of sinkerballers :

    Trevor Cahill 88
    J. Garland 81
    Jaime Garcia 82
    Matt Maloney 74

played about 10 games, and i'm having good fun so far, and good share of grounders, but I expected to see some more when my Sinkerballs were starting.

    i'm using a mix of BIGFNJOE96's and Blazzen's sliders.

I'm pitching my sinkerballs down in the zone, though 30%-50% of the time the AI seems to lay off em if they're just below for a ball.
Even if they do make contact with the balls down low, or sinkerballs that are strikes but still pretty low, i think they've been pretty much 50/50 groundballs to fly balls.

Is it just me? if so, any tips?

    thank you

btw, sucks that my ace Cahill is on the 60 day DL after a month in the season.

I haven't really noticed this, but what you can do is go into each pitcher's 'Edit Player' screen and check their tendencies for groundball outs (I think that option is in there). Just up it and see if it helps.

      thanx for the tip.

strange though, i just checked, and most of my sinkerballers, plus some guys off the top of my head like Wang and Webb, all their ground balls tendancies + "out by groundballs" were only about 40-60.
not much different than your average joe pitcher to Felix or Holliday.
though i did find a 2-3 with out by GB in the 80s.
also all their "out by SOs" were all 88-97 range. though SO tendency had a wider range.

i don't want to have to edit a lot of players, but this just seems like an ommision, mistake, or those tendancies just don't mean much.

That's my take. I doubt very much the game is programmed that deeply -- that sinkerballs specifically will create more more groundballs than other pitches. Something to try: Take an AA team and play against another AA team. I'm finding the lower ratings -- all players in the 60-70 range -- produces much more realistic results from a gameplay perspective. You'll see a ton more groundballs for example, rather than all those screaming liners you see with those ratings-juiced MLB-level players.

Somebody needs to check this. Play a test game with one starting pitcher at 100 groundball outs, and the other at 0. See if it does anything.

i did play 1 game with Jaime Garcia, with both in groundball tendancies changed to 80-90.

did notice a few more groundballs, but was only 1 game so can't be sure.

btw, he took a no hitter into the 9nth. sadly got a blooper after 1 out.

I've noticed this too. 2k probably didn't set their groundball tendency slider right in the individual player settings/attributes. Edit this and should be all good. I play with the Braves and D. Lowe def. doesn't get enough grounders. He's like 80% grounders. Huddy is right up there too.

Typical 2k, no attention to detail.

any ideas/tips on looking up guys with high GB rates so I can at least try to edit some of big names?

                greatly appreciated.

You should just take any 2 random pitchers from different teams, change one's GB ratings to 100, and the other to 0. Switch back and forth between innings, and pitch primarily low in the zone. This will determine how well this slider works.
