360 scratched the crap out of my disk

So last night I sat down for only the fourth time to play 2K11. Prior to doing so, I had to move my 360 from one shelf to another.

So I boot up the game, everything is going fine. I go to start up My Player and it goes through the initial intro video to it. After that, it goes to a loading screen and the drive sounds like it is working harder than normal. I figured my Xbox crashed or something.

Then all of a sudden I get an error that says the disc cannot be read and that I need to use a soft cloth to wipe it.

I open up the drive and look at the disc and there are several huge scratches on the outer portion of the disk. I wipe it off, put it back in and sure enough I keep getting the same error.

Should I be able to return this back to the store I got it for an even exchange? I'm guessing that when I moved my 360 around, the game maybe came u***lanced in the drive or something.

It's never a good idea to move a 360 with a disc in it. I doubt they'll let you exchange it, but maybe....

No, thats your fault for moving the xbox with the disc in it. That is a NO NO. What you need to do is rent the MLB 2k11 game, and no do not switch the disks, thats STEALING, but put the good disc in the xbox, copy the game to the HDD. Take the good disc back to where you rented it, now in order to play the game off the HDD, you need to put the old broken disc back in the xbox. Go to game library, and load it that way and it will work perfectly.

*I know this works because ****** got torn to pieces by my xbox cause the xbox moved while the game was in..*

Re: 360 scratched the crap out of my disk

I purchased MLB 2k11 and directly from getting home, I placed the game into my Xbox and waited to play. The game, would not come up! On the Xbox screen, it did not read the disk. Well I finally got it to work after several attempts to clean it, and it finally worked. a day later I tried to play once more and it didn't work. I tried the same thing I did before. I then went to Game stop and the Manager (Who is a real * if I might add) showed me the back of the disk, and showed me several large scratches. I told him I was always very careful when it came to disks, to make sure I wouldn't scratch it, ever since I started gaming. He allowed me to get another disk and said that it was possible that animal hair got into my disk!? Im not sure how that would be possible, even though my house is pretty much a small domestic zoo, I cant see how it got hair into the disk with the small 10 seconds it was out of its box and not into the Xbox. So I am not sure how, but I do think several of the MLB disks could of gotten damaged.

They took it back. Woo Hoo. The dude in the electronics section at Target said that 360's were super fickle and if you bumped them just a little bit, it could force the disk to get out of whack and scratch up the disk, which is probably exactly what happened....Very cool of them to take it back.
