This game works the same way every sports game works. As in player ratings determine player ability. You're can't seriously be trying to suggest otherwise?

But progression is different from player to player. The ratings suggest how good a player is, the statistics show how good the player is performing.

Then explain how on College Hoops I can shoot .298 with a player with 80s shooting ratings, but .400 with a player in the 70s shooting 3's? Or why I can hit better with Mitch Moreland in this game than I can Michael Young?

Ratings don't determine stats. If they did, playing games would be pointless like I said because you have no control on the outcome.

So what you're essentially arguing here is Player A with a 75 power rating is a better bet to hit a walkoff HR in the 9th than Player B with a 90 power rating, and all because you happened to hit 7 more HRs with Player A over the course of the season. Me, I go with the 90-rated power hitter every time. And of course things like clutch ratings would come into play as well. But that's my point. You put in the player with the best ratings and not the best stats if you want the greatest chance for success.

I'm also completely unclear as to what you're saying with your last comment. Bottomline, if you're playing your highest-rated players, you're increasing your chances of being successful. How is that not having control over the outcome?

Doesn't progression simply increase/decrease a player's skill ratings over the course of his career? Unless you're talking about some performance boost rating I'm unaware of in 2K11.

The stats determine how the ratings progress/regress. That was covered in one of the 2K videos.
