they didn't work before the patch, for classic swing anyway. Unless you go into the pitch knowing you are going to check swing, it doesn't work, and even then....it's iffy.

I use MVP05 as a benchmark, so these things really baffle me. CHECK SWING HAS TO BE IN NEXT YEAR'S GAME FOR BOTH BATTING MODES!!!!!!!!!!!

That's not true. The problem is that when you execute the check swing, it is always called a strike. I had this problem before the patch, but it seemed to have cleared itself up.

But since the patch, it is back again.

What I also dont understand is, that this worked fine last year.

Last year there was also a cut scene to the umpire who would either signal that you held up or went around. This year that is gone. Im guessing it might be related to that.

I just cant beleive something as simple as check swings isnt there... or errors/injuries last year.. but thats besides the point.

Unfortunately, I have changed a ton of them. I noticed it because during an online game with a friend, I was complaining abut his very issue. Then, I started noticing that balls were being called, and even the occasional Ump cut scene. It was weird.

I may sit down and try to figure it out. But honestly, it ends up being a small issue. It's annoying, but if the ball was out of the zone, I benefited by not hitting into what would be an out. I can take the hit of additional bad calls by the umps.

I'd like it fixed, though.

Im convinced this has something to do with the umpire cut scene not playing out correctly. (And the game defaulting to a strike when it should not.)

Im going to try and toy around with display settings, and see if there are certain settings that cut off the umpire cut scene, and thus glitching check swings.


I have to say I am AMAZED at this companies ability to cause a bug with something they had previously fixed. Imagine how much time these knuckle-heads must spend re-fixing things? No wonder each year is loaded with bugs... (*wishes he owned a PS3*)

It's not ideal, but I can live with it. I would suppose that most check swings are ruled strikes for crossing the plane anyway. Crossing fingers for on patch. It is still a fantastically fun game for me to play.

I too hope there will be a 3rd patch, even if a small one.

I emailed Ron2K about this... we'll see what he says.

Also, more and more posters are complaining that acheivements are not unlocking even when criteria has been met. Which is weird...

Even though I hope there will be a patch, Im not holding my breath.

Like you said... its too bad and otherwise awesome game has to have such annoying glitches.
