This does happen, it seems to happen if you get into the cirlce late. I also had it happen last night in a game where the Rangers drove a ball to deep centerfield, the game gave me the option to press x so that I could jump up and catch the ball, however, when I pressed x my CF stopped, waited for the ball to come off of the wall and then lobbed the ball into 3rd; mind you this hit came with 2 outs and the bases loaded, obviously after this wonderful fielding animation they had scored 3 runs and had a guy standing on 3rd.

I had this EXACT thing happen to me. I should add I was in the circle a good 2 seconds before the ball landed standing perfectly still.

Yeah i have had the same thing happen to me a few times as well. Had 3 in one game last night, standing in the circle as well only for two of them land perfectly behind my fielder and i had one hit my player smack bang on the top of the head.
