Where does Albert Pujols land in your franchises

I was just wondering, where has Albert Pujols landed in peoples franchise? If he's getting signed for like 15 M, when I start my franchise I think I'm going to edit his contract up to the max the game will allow (26.20)

I haven't quite gotten that far, but as someone who's playing with the Cardinals in Franchise Mode, I'm not letting him hit the market.

In the few seasons I have played through, I have never seen him reach free agency. In fact, the best player to go to free agency is usually Grady Sizemore, with Paul Maholm being the best pitcher.

Yea. He always re-signs in STL for cheap in the ones I've done.

For my new one, I went through and edited nearly all players' contracts to their actual numbers prior to this franchise, hoping it would create more good free agents since teams will have less to spend. I'm only in early June, so I wont know if it worked for a while.

I think in my Mariners or Astros franchise he moved somewhere, I'll probably check later. In my Yankees franchise I make trades and buy everybody I can so I have a Cardinal or two, but Pujols stayed.

Mine? He stayed in St. Louis.

I can only hope it reflects reality

Unless you edit all the contracts most of the star players are going to sign with the team they are on again. It's been a problem with the 2k series for a few years now since they make all the contracts about 80% of what they really are which leads to all the teams having tons of extra spending money.

Pujols stays in St.Louis, Prince always stays in Milwaukee. Contracts are completely jacked in this game, almost any team can resign any player. Therefore there are rarely any big name FA's available in the off season. It is very hard to make substantial improvements to your team in a short period beyond trades.

Do you have to do this with all players on all teams for realistic effects, or do you just need to bump up the contracts of the big name players? If it makes that big a difference I may just do a team every few days so that when I'm done with the season I have a better FA crop.

While the contracts are smaller, so is the available budget for teams. One issue is that there is a built in $5-10 million overage that allows you to buy IE reports for whatever team you choose to be, but since the CPU doesn't need the IE reports, they have that extra money to spend.

While the contracts may look low, if you look at most of them, they are in line % wise compared to other members of the team. There are examples of them being too low, but I still think the main factor is the buffer $ built in for IE reports.

Some are crazy low. Adrian Gonzales has a 7 year contract worth 4.40 M per year when he really gets 21 M

At the very least I plan on doing it for the top 10-15 players on each team. By editing the top 10 or so Yankees, I got them from having $39 million to spend down to like $3 million.

I haven't tested it in 2k11 yet, but in 2k10 if you didn't do this there would never be any big name free agents at the end of the year. 1 because of the extra spending money and 2 because the players would always sign for the same contract they had (original contract, not edited one) or less.

adjusting the roster might be the best thing to do. I maxed out pujols contract and he signed for 12mil. The next season I changed about 10-15 different people including Kemp at 19.5mil and he ends up signing for 11mil. The biggest FA I had at the end if the season was Ichiro. I really hope they can fix it.

I tried this too and everybody definitely signed for less money, major letdown after taking hours to edit all the contracts. I was hopin they would have fixed it in the patch but no go. The only players that ever become free agents are guys that are injury prone or old. Grady Sizemore and Ricky Nolasco are probably the best ive seen.
