    Franchise Injury Slider Testing

    This is done post patch. Here is my testing table:

    <style type="text/css">
    table.tableizer-table {border: 1px solid #CCC; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;} .tableizer-table td {padding: 4px; margin: 3px; border: 1px solid #ccc;}
    .tableizer-table th {background-color: #104E8B; color: #FFF; font-weight: bold;}
    </style>

    <table class="tableizer-table">
    <tr class="tableizer-firstrow"><th></th><th>150+ GP</th><th>100+ GP</th><th>600+ AB</th><th>200+ IP</th><th>30+ GS</th></tr> <tr><td>Injuries at 100</td><td>79</td><td>200+</td><td>72</td><td>28</td><td>86</td></tr> <tr><td>Injuries at 75</td><td>89</td><td>200+</td><td>82</td><td>26</td><td>95</td></tr> <tr><td>Injuries at 50</td><td>109</td><td>200+</td><td>96</td><td>33</td><td>103</td></tr> <tr><td>Injuries at 25</td><td>133</td><td>200+</td><td>114</td><td>31</td><td>110</td></tr> <tr><td>Injuries at 0</td><td>137</td><td>200+</td><td>123</td><td>35</td><td>112</td></tr> <tr><td>2010 MLB Season</td><td>36</td><td>155</td><td>23</td><td>45</td><td>74</td></tr></table>

    First of all, there's really no way to truly measure whether or not injuries are correct. It's impossible to count them all from season to season and nearly impossible to constantly count them in franchise. The best I could do is measure certain stats such as games played and innings pitched.

    As you can see they really nerfed injuries post patch. They were actually perfect then, but it might have been too realistic for most casual gamers.

    With injuries at 100, the stats still couldn't reach MLB levels. At 0, injuries STILL occur and you can clearly see the different categories increase as the injury slider goes down.

    The issue with having more games played and at bats is skewed stats. Too many at bats means more hits, more walks, strikeouts, etc. All stats get skewed.

    Innings pitched for some reason could never get close to the MLB average. But when it did, at 0, the games started for pitchers skyrocketed. This might be a sim engine issue rather than an injury issue.

    My conclusion, is that to get anywhere near realistic "sim" results, the slider needs to be placed at 100. This will allow for a close to correct number of games played and games started with pitchers. Innings pitched seems to be hit or miss.

    Got any feedback or Q's let me know!

      so correct me if im wrong. but post patch you'd want closer to 100 injury to come close to realistic numbers except for the innings pitched columns which is always low even at 0

        Correct. The most realistic injuries/stars occurs at 100.

          I've been using 50 based on what TrojanMan tested:

          http://www.operationsports.com/forum...ost-patch.html

          I dont care as much about innings pitched or games played I just want the slider that will give me the most realistic # of injuries through the year. Do you feel 100 is more realistic than 50? I wonder what the average number of injuries per MLB team is

            like I said in the OP, there is no real way to figure that out. The best way to measure it, so far, is the way I did. That's why I measured games played and so on.

            For now I find 100 the most accurate. About half way through the season and it's not all that bad. There's a lot of little injuries such as 2-4 days or 10-20 days. Turning it to 100 doesn't mean 200 players will be out for the season. It's all distributed pretty well.

            If your a hard core sim player, go with 100. If your casual, go 50.

                Hey Detroitstyle,

                could you tell me what sliders do you use? I'm also a fan of realism and I appreciate all your efforts that you share with us, it's, I'm pretty sure about it, a lot of work. Thanks for your time.

                  Re: Franchise Injury Slider Testing

                  nah, only took about 15 minutes to test. I use 100 right now. It works well for me, but there's a lot of minor 1-10 day injuries to manage. So if you like to sim a lot of seasons fast, then 100 isn't for you.
