MLB 2k12 Crew mode
Is there any possibillity that Mlb 2k12 can have a crew mode. I mean i know it would be very hard in mlb games but it's possible. For example 9 my players v. 9 my players. There would be a starting pitcher and everything and the captain of the team can decide when to switch the pitcher. I know it sounds kind of foolish but i imagine it would be really really fun. Give me some feedback about the idea please.Tags: None -

one day this will happen, It will be great. I played a game like on PC like 6 years ago it was dreadfully slow and no one had uniform numbers or anything everyone was generic.Comment

No company would ever spend time to do it, because you simply can't rely on nine players to coerce as a team together. This goes for any sport, except maybe hockey. Just imagine somebody gets up to go to the John, and a line drive goes by him because he wasn't there. Imagine every baserunner thinking that they can steal, and being selfish in attempting to do so.
Besides, what about substitutions? Are we just going to throw those out the window, or are we going to have 25 players connected per team and have some players sitting on the bench? Maybe it'll be like PlayStation Home, where you can just roam around your dugout and do dance moves.
Of course, this doesn't go without spectator mode. I will choose to be the fan in the right field bleachers who makes everybody get up as I proceed to and from the aisle stairs. I've built My Fan for a while so his daily stadium budget is a little better than that of the hot dog combo meal, but I'm still shortchanged on lemonade snow cones at the end. I've caught one batting practice home run ball after Miguel Olivo tossed it into the stands once, but I'm still trying to get that trophy on throwing an away team home run ball back.
Sorry I went on that extremely sarcastic rant there... I'm just trying to give indication as to how far a customer really could take it if they begin with these implementations. Frankly, servers aside, I just don't see the manpower devotion (either by development team or the users themselves) to make a 9 v. 9 game possible. It's cool in theory, but it just can't work as imagined.
I do hope they find the next cool thing to step up with in My Player, though. Maybe they can do online Home Run Derby mode or something. One other thing they could do (unless they already have it as a feature) is allow you to upload/download other people's My Player players. This would work excellently with friends who want to share themselves, so you don't have to create them or download an entirely separate roster (assuming there could be a way to append individuals onto an actual roster file). That way, you could at least play with 50 different My Player's... but the other users themselves wouldn't be playing with you, just their players.Last edited by Blzer; 11-21-2011, 12:37 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: MLB 2k12 Crew mode
Nine on nine would be so freaking boring if you weren't the pitcher. You might go innings without getting a ball. Games already take 90-120 minutes to play. Do you really want to play that long at get 4 ab's and field one or two balls. Even nine balls?
Baseball would be absolutely the worst sport for this kind of mode. 2K is not going to ignore because they are lazy, but because it would suck up a ton of resources for a mode that would hardly be used at all.
Baseball is also the toughest sport to play with any lag at all. Pitching and hitting takes really tight online play. And 2K is the only company that has come close to making online play engaging and fun. But it is still off and not near tight enough to keep players coming back. Put 18 guys online and it would be unplayable.
2K has done some amazing work getting their online play up to a decent standard. They should get credit for getting as clase as they have, not dinged for failing. No one else puts out a game that allows for reasonable balls and strikes.
Basically, this is just not a good use of 2K's resources, which are already tighter than they should be because of the terrible contract they signed with MLB.Comment

On the other hand if they did make crew it would be pointless to hack because if your my players to big you would always strike out. And if he's to small he would still strike out. I think crew in MLB would be a great idea..........but as you know all great ideas must be crushed by 2k Sports.--

I think kingy hit it on the head. People think it would be hard to connect 18 people but most people don't realize that as long as the developer puts time into dedicated servers, you could have pretty much an unlimited number of people playing online together. Look at the game MAG. I could count on one hand how many times I lagged in a game of MAG and that's 256 people playing online in one match at a time.Comment
